Gpx2 Unvailed!!

Something's gotta be done about that control pad. And why are they still going with 2 AA batteries? Why couldn't they go with a rechargeable battery pack that can charge thru the USB port? Sheesh. I'm still gonna get one though.

i dont see the usefulness of those buttons, exept if they could be use for games, the systeme of the gp32 was ggod, or they couls have rip the DS system. With the system of the GPX2 we lose 2 buttons :(

Looks like it will be near impossible to replace the plastic screen with a glass one too. This means we are stuck with that easily scratched shit plastic one.

And that volume control, ick. I prefer a regular old knob that you can quickly turn up/down. Those button ones kind of suck... tap tap tap...tap tap tap.. this button style also eliminates fine in-between sound setting as it in steps, stupid.

If I were to change it I would add two full sized buttons where the volume is, move the volume to a knob on the side, add a bezel so a glass screen can be added, nix the dual core crap as that makes coding emus complicated, and add a single 350-400 MHz CPU.

Overall there are a couple of gaffs like mentioned above. Not too bad though. A button mod and glass screen mod will be a possibility for me, hope it is possible.

after looking a long time at the GPX2 it appeared to me that it looks like the GP32 , pay attention and you will see
the same L/R button, the grey plastic around the console, the back of the console.....

Looks fantastic, the media players sound great, and the backwards compatibility, storage and open source mean it ticks all the boxes for me. I hope it's not too expensive. I was sure they'd muck this up, but so far it bodes well... (fingers crossed)

The PSP has bewitched me more recently but this might pull me back...

This looks really cool. I wonder how much it will cost and the estimated release date?
I hope Linux doesn't have to run in the background all the time - as the overhead would be annoying.

hmm this thing has 64MB internal flash... and Linux as OS. this sounds great. this will be a great PDA, only thing missing is a touchscreen. But thats not so important.

Hmm runs linux - have they said it actually is backwards compatable? don't see how that would work... couldn't it just be that there are already a lot of emulators and stuff ported to linux and you can just run them....? also hence the "you'll be happy" etc comments from Craig...

the volume buttons would be used for vertical games.

Also, does this thing have shoulder buttons?

Now how the hell can volume buttons control the game? Or would the volume go up and down as you play

Plus the overhead of linux is high. The nice thing about the current GP32 is that there is no OS to get in the way. This thing running linux may run emus SLOWER than the current one because of the OS overhead.

Don't dump your GP32s yet folks ;)

Well if you were lucky the volume might be done in software not in hardware.

hmm.. i think it wont have a OS in background. It will be like the gp32 with a small firmware. OS will be a option. And even if not, just change the firmware :)

I'm not a dev. so i don't know, but i'd assume there would be code that could be written so that the volume buttons could be mapped so they didn't raise the volume. And if the volume is button controlled, on a verticle game, couldn't you map the volume buttons to the other buttons that are not being used??
