My god I've been stalking this device for so long. Looks like Pyra have smoother development than OpenPandora.

I've seen the prototype videos, why EvilDragon don't ever consider the clear case as one of the option? I'm not sure whether this has been suggested or not. Red is great, but clear case with the ability to see all the wires and chips inside will simply blow any geeks mind.

Other generic suggestion that probably has been posted before maybe approach Cyanogen for official Pandora Android port? Device like Nvidia Shield probably great but the lack of keyboard and ports makes it not any useful than my tablet, nothing more than just a gaming/entertainment device.

Anyway, do the new processor will it be able to run HD videos? Also, how would it compare to GPD Win? At this price range, I need to save up tons, because I cannot afford it yet.

Pyra looks soo good, added with the telephony support, imagine running full blown Linux softwares while it's still my main phone. Eh forget about Android I just need to have ZBrush running on it, but Blender should be fine. Wine runs earlier ZBrush version without any problem though.

Clear case would just get you questioned by airport security...

There's an FAQ for the rest of your questions somewhere :)

Not a fan of the clear case, to me I've always considered clear plastics as cheapening the look of any device. Plus it would leak light out all over the place when using the keyboard backlight. But I know many here like it.

If enough People are interested in an Clear Case, then it should be Possible.

Dunno, but there seems to be an Replicant Port planed: https://pyra-handheld.com/boards/threads/replicant-port-to-pyra-pandora-poll.77543/ Would be cool if that also Runs in an VM.

Yes,

Well its obviously somewhat Slower, but has more Features and with an Upgradeable CPU Board it could be cheaper in the long run.

With the Pyra being an ARM Device, x86 Emulation is needed which is pretty Slow. Maybe one of the Devboard Owners could test x86 Blender via Exagear to see how well ZBrush would Perform.

I think that would be part of the appeal of a clear case
(..in any case, I would also seriously consider a clear case as it takes away some of the brickyness)

If ED decides to do a clear case. .. I will buy 2 of them. At least. If my modding ideas are successful I'm sure to buy more.

If my modding ideas are successful. .. Other people will buy clear cases when I post pictures...

If ED doesn't do a clear case... The only case I will be buying is the one the Pyra ships with.

I've done a clear case mod for my DS Lite, and PSP in the past, and while I really like clear case options, I don't know how well it will work here.

The biggest issues with clear cases is light bleeding through where it's not wanted or needed. So the only way I see this possibly working, is to shut of the back light for the keyboard, but then it looses one of it's main features. I guess if the keypad can keep the light blocked from where it's not wanted, it may work, but I'll have to wait and see how it looks in use before I commit to wanting one.

I saw a lot of people hating and loving de clear case. I think that we have to release a normal case and a replacement clear case. Also ED told us that theres no QOT so I don't see any problem making it available.

Well if i look some weeks forward to the clear case discussion, i have to say: i want it, and i would shose it if its available for the first 200 Customers, but if there is only a Normal Case, then i would chose this..
Secretly i hope there isnt a clear case, because at the moment, i cant immage the issues in my mind it will cause...
And maybe it was a false decicion then to have a Transparent case..

Or i will enjoy it the first few weeks, but then i ditnt care the coolness faktor anymore and would rather have a blue or black case..

I can't remember the brand of paint, and don't know if it is sold in Germany, but I have seen some really cool stuff done with clear cases (that reminds me, someone asked about that and now I need to dig through everything to find who it was so I can send them links and info). I think the paint remains translucent if done properly, and you seem to like that, so if there is a clear case maybe you can paint it blue or black and have a translucent black/blue case...or you could get creative and do both.

You can Dye it to let it remain transparent or even use Vinyl Dye cans to make the plastic opaque (or maybe color the case from both sides).

Oh damn, I want to do a lot of experiments with a clear case.

Because you might be hiding something inside it? This is the most idiotic argument against a clear case I think I have read so far.

Well played.

Anyway, I have thought about this more and with discussions on IRC about spraying the inside with a different coat would give the clear case more awesomeness if you were to do that :D.
I'm toying with the idea of ordering a clear case with the Pyra for science if there's some spares.

Imagine a clear case, with those black nubs and buttons, with a custom, phosphorescent GREEN paint (on the inside of the case, too hot?)... almost BORG-like. Glowing and the light is muted enough...to boldly go where no handheld has gone before--->

You can Dye it
I don't want to point people in that direction until it has been confirmed to work, and even then different brands and colors may get different results (one color may work great while another looks nothing like what was intended). Vinyl dye may work for some people, but I would rather just use paint.

I will eventually get off my ass and find pics of some of the better looking GBs that were painted inside.

Maybe ED should get a run of clear cases made (once the molds are finalized) and add them to the shop now so those of us that want to mod them can get started, post the results, and share tips. That would also bring in a tiny bit of money for him.

I don't think it would look Borg-like (platinum Pandoras with heavily worn cases showing a lot of black might). I do think it would look nice, and @Grench would probably like it. Also, those that want a lighter colored case could have something cool to show off in the dark. Too bad radium paint is dangerous.

Perhaps not in an allover green paint job. That's the beauty of the modify-able CLEAR case though. You can paint it black, then take off some of that black paint to paint another color within the removed/recessed areas. What you're describing is almost as easy as painting it one solid color...IF you're going to modify it so in the first place.

I was really happy to hear that "clear" won't cost anything extra to mold, as an unique color will. Sure, it still takes a day for cleaning and injecting of plastic to/for the mold(s), but at least it's very doable. It also seems like a viable option for most people that have their hearts set on something else.

Heck, maybe ED can sell "wrappable skins"...like a custom nylon layer for us to experiment with. DragonBox can make some additional revenue and help the less tech-savvy among us realize our dreams of "modding" our new handhelds. Clearly, clear must remain one of the options. Hopefully I'm being clear, and transparent.

Just so you know, we can see through your little tricks.

My little tricks? Do tell. I'd like to know what my little tricks are. I might have had Lucky Charms for breakfast?
