The Zodiac people have the "american way of gaming" (sorry, if i offend any americans here). You know, they always want to have the newest and biggest and fasstest and whatsoever. While most gp32_console users live the "european way of gaming". They prefer to have a solid, not to expensive hardware, that just fits their demands, and like to have a nice and freindly community.
EXACTLY, im American but.. we suck. People laugh at me for having a GP32 sometimes because its not as 1337 as their xbox. Silly kids. Oh well, the smart people of America are here (well..im stupid but dont tell anyone I dont want to have to go buy a zodiac, xbox, ps2...im too poor right now)
its not much better in the UK - I`ve got sick of death having people come up 2 me in work and go `ooohhhhhhhhh whats that` and then go into an indepth description of the gp32.
Just to here people reply ` So its a gameboy then` or `can i have a go at tetris`

Hehe, my friends were like that too. until I showed them that my gp32 can play porn :p
About the zodiac scene..
I think people get kinda mad if they have to pay for everything and get the same things like us just not for free. ;) And then if you get ripped off while trying to buy an emu...This brings alot of tension into the community. I really love the fact that i can donate to a programer but he isn't forcing me into doing this.

I`ve been seriously considering buyinG A zodiac for the last few weeks for the extra power, the sexy looks and for emulation out of reach of the gp32.

Spent some time on the zodiac boards to check out the scene, seen whats availble whats up and comming and finally decided to sell my gp32!!!!

But only to buy on BLU

I mean christ! what a bunch of immature monkey licking assholes that seem to populate the boards - Say ANYTHING that doesnt conform to their views and get flamed for 3 pages.

They seem to spend all their time moaning about lack of software but say anything about the zodiac limitations and get another flaming.

I was interested in the the possiblitlies on GBA emulation but it seems that the guy who wrote his has only released a buggy gb emulator and done a run with the cash!

I also wanted proper Megadrive and SNES emulation, but looks like Im gonna get it on the gp32 after all.

The guys in the GP32 scene are the most friendly I`ve had the pleasure of yapping to since the heyday of the Amiga

So good on you all
I think the biggest draw of the Zodiac is the backlit screen. With the BLU GP32 though that will become a moot point.

As far as the extra power for emulation there isn't really that big of a difference. By the time you get done with the Palm OS layer (is is small but is still there) extra other stuff the difference in power is not all that much.

If they put a porn CD in the box it'd sell better than GBA :p

Tell me about it. First thing on my GP32 was Paradise Heights :p I originally wanted the thing for SNES emulation. Now what have I got on it? GPCat, loads of SCUMM games, BOR and a little C64. This is just a great community we have here, it's like in the good old Amiga days.

I know a single Zodiac user. He tried to mock me by saying "You only want stuff for free."
Why yes I do, thank you very much, and I don't see a problem with it. I loved to see him pay for a GB emulator while I sat down beside him and whipped out my GP32 sporting an emulator at least as good as he has. Seriously, who doesn't want free stuff? And if it is good, i will donate to the coder. Mind you, if it is what I think is good. I'm not donating for Chu Chu Rocket, it took at most 30 minutes of my time and has no replay value. But if I can play SNES games at a decent speed, I will give what I see fit. Programs are always better if you work on them because you like to do it, not because you want the cash. That often leads to half-assed jobs.

By the same token, the stuff you pay for is usually really good stuff and has support and a lifecycle of growth ;)

The Zodiac is a great piece of hardfware, but the GP32 scene *is* a cooler one; but to its credit, the Zodiac has been around a much shorter time, and is a different focus as its a blend of PDA as well, so its drawing in the PDA crowd which is much larger and different than the GP32 crowd.

Free is not always better; cost is not always better :)

I can't wait for the GP BLU units.. I just hope I can get one that doesn't have a white case; the Zodiac is the best looking mobile device ever, period, without argument. The GP32 is shameful to look at in comparison.. but a backlit GP32 will make the screenusable, and if its got a non-white cvase, I'll be happy as hell :) (GP32 without FLU is bad, and GP32 with FLU is still a terrible screen :/)

I can just see some snobby rich kids sitting at their 3.4ghz computers all day complaining on the zodiac boards about not having the games and emulation that they want.

Is it just me or is anybody else disgusted at the method that ZG uses to attract coders? You know, have everybody raise money and then send the Zodiac as a "gift" to a coder, expecting him to work his ass off and create an emu for the users just because he was sent the handheld for free.

Yeah I call it "bribeware". What is more annoying is that they are going to pry Rlyeh away from GP32 developement by buying him Codewarrior for the Zodiac.

Come on Skeez' The GP32 isn't that bad to look at. And the screen is actually very good, the best I have seen for a reflective LCD (if you replace that plastic shit screen for a glass one). It is brighter than the GBA.

The backlit Zodiac screen is nicer, of course, as backlit is always better than non backlit. Hopefully the BLU will fix that.
