Wrapping everything up!

I'm pretty sure that I had pre-ordered the one with more ram than standard, but I can't remember. :p
I don't even really care what color the case is!
I'm just a collector of tiny Arm computers. :p
That and having a computer this small and portable will be incredibly handy for traveling, I just wish I could afford a extra mobile data plan to have a 4G sim card in it...
But that's what tethering is for.
You could always use it as your main phone like I plan to.

I hate Android so I'm hoping I can get rid of it entirely, except for maybe a few apps running in Anbox or something.
There are _Alot_ of things that I hate about Google.
Enough that I wish I could switch from a Android phone to something else.
But there are a lot of custom Android rom projects that I like, such as Cyanogenmod/LineageOS, etc...
Plus as a "daily driver" phone I really, really need a phone that has a screen above 6 inches...
Not just for the content in my Google Play music and movies account...
But for the fact that I have a easier time typing using a on screen keyboard on a larger display...
I kinda wish that Ubuntu Touch Linux phone project was making more progress...
But I also would love seeing the Pyra Handheld get a larger screen version, like a Pyra XD model or something. :p

Well that's why it's good the Pyra has a real keyboard. That's one of my big complaints about Android, no one who implements it wants to make devices with real keyboards. But I feel like for me, 5 inches is fine for videos.

Which reminds me- just found a nice interview with Raymond E. Feist about the video game based on his fantasy books..

[EDIT] Is xBak feature-complete? No updates on the engine since 2012...

I remember that game!

Unfortunately for me, the design of the keyboard in a folding clamshell would make it impossible to type while I'm driving. :p
An unfortunate necessity while I'm making my regular commutes between my two jobs...
I however did enjoy using physical keyboards on devices similar to what the blackberry did utilize, memorizing which key was what made it super easy to type while driving, I however never owned a blackberry, and there quickly ran out of Android and Windows phones using those styles of keyboard...
I really hate the Apple movement that's trying to get rid of all physical buttons and things like the auxiliary audio ports for headphones and eventually go to wireless charging only... And of course the SD card slot as well... What good does allowing consumers to buy a cheaper phone with less storage and buy a large capacity SD card, when there's a perfectly good phone with lots of storage too! (but also costs three times as more than the phone with less storage, but a nice SD card slot...)
I need physical buttons and lots, Lots of ports! And SD card slots are awesome!
Which is why I love the feature of the Pyra! I can't even begin to describe how excited I am over the prospect of upgrading the CPU!
Given the small collection of raspberry pi's, odroid XU3's and XU4's, Asus Tinker boards, and my two Rock64's,
I'm actually very excited to see down the road just how future proof the Pyra can be!
If there eventually could be a CPU module with a Rockchip RK3399 on board, that would be pretty amazing. :p!

Ed, thanks for the update. This is a suck case.

Start working on the new SoC board to get ready for 2020 when Pyra comes out :)

Where are you located? And what does your car look like? I'd like to be sure that I'll never have you run into me on the road... :p

I think we're going to require a good dictation app for the Pyra. Could be the "killer app" to make it popular :p
That's indeed a productive direction to take the conversation.
Unfortunately my web-searching hasn't yielded good FOSS natural speech recognition results for linux.
What is needed is some modern neural net implementation with a lot of training to recognize all kinds of accents. That stuff is being held closely by Alphabet etc.afaict.

Have you heard of Mozilla common voice?

Southern California, trust me, distracted driving and road rage is pretty common over here, but I'm a pretty obsessive multi-tasker. :p

I feel like people who text and drive (and actually cause an accident because of it) should lose the right to own a phone that has that capability.
