I'm evaluating some commercial game ports; ie: Real work that costs me real time to do and costs me money. But some good stuff.

The question is .. would you ACTUALLY PAY for a game? Not super fancy Nintendo level game, but good quality game.

I'm thinking a decent price, say $15 or somesuch range.

If a 500 or 1000 people would buy, it'd be worth doing; if 20 peopel buy, it'd hurt pretty bad. So I'm wondering what the feel is here.

Maybe I should make a poll :)

An RPG in this case; also, an action title.

I intend to buy at least one 'commercial' game for the GP2X. I would prefer a download, and I don't mind about DRM if its reasonable. $15 is on the high end of what I woul be willing to pay ($20 being my maximum).

I would be more interested in a Western RPG (of 'Exile' or 'Geneforge' quality)over Action. I would prefer Action over a JRPG.

I was going to say yes until you said RPG! :p

edit - To clarify, I'd like to offer support, but I couldn't just buy a game because it's there. I have no interest in RPGs (I sometimes think I'm the only person here who doesn't like them!). A game would have to interest me, but I'd not worry about paying that sort of amount if it did.

Yeah, I'd buy a rpg for 15 bucks.
Depends of the reviews of course, but a nice, pretty long game with a good story... Yeah :)

It's hard to say. If you made it I probably would even if it weren't my cup of tea, just to help support you. If it were a Pinball game I definately would!! :D

BTW, I'm going to be donating for your EXCELLENT work on Outcast! I had a GP32 and Castaway but didn't use it much at all because my FLU was just too dark. Now that I have a 2X Outcast gets a good portion of my time on it.

I'd cough up for a decent racer, something like a Mario Kart or Wipeout clone would be great. Maybe you should take a vote on what style of game would be the most popular?

I'd pay for a decent 2D RPG, platformer or something Worms-style. I'd also pay for 3D pretty much anything (except sport). I'd like to see it driven as far as it can and back again.

If its good enough (and funds permitting :( ) I would buy a commericial game, so long as it dont have crappy trance music in it.

i'd pay 15 for a good shmup with nice hardware video effects...something that's like 1/3 as nice-looking as nanostray :)

but honestly i think if you had the first commercial game a lot of people would buy it just out of curiosity...

If it was good, DEFINATELY.

If it was OK, Maybe.

If it was poor, probably not

I'd like a nice RPG, something with an awesome storyline, and good controls (!)

If it was good, was something I was interested in, and it was not locked to a single unit (hardware comes and goes too much, breaks upgrades etc.) I would buy it.
