Except for the abusive, predatory or violent (i.e. not all abuse is the same) Punishment isn't for the benefit of the perpetrator, but for the peace of mind for the victims and their families. "Abuse" may not even be recognised as a crime by the perpetrator, but effectively destroy the lives of any individuals affected.
All I am saying is that prisons should be abolished and replaced with high intensity therapy centers of the highest quality.
The abusive, predatory, and violent are the ones that need the most therapy.
I have no tolerance for people who will do away with or remove others "for their own peace of mind"... Life sucks, this world is rotten... It is full of sick people.. overflowing with them. When you find yourself a 'victim' of such people, it is your opportunity to step up and do your part to change reality (break the cycle), by finding a way to help the person, if you can. The need for revenge (especially when masked as 'justice') is a quality of the unconscious fear driven victim mentality.
The enlightened way to respond to someone who does something terrible to you is to evoke the deepest level of compassion within yourself.
It is not easy, and it cannot be faked... It is about the hardest thing a human is required to do.... It takes a lot of practice and an extreme amount of introspection... Being able to empathize with the perpetrator is mandatory for such levels of compassion...
Yes it is hard, but in this world you will be given ample almost constant opportunities to learn to empathize and develope your compassion.
When you have reached a level of awareness, where you no longer perceive yourself as a victim, regardless of what happens to you... You will know these poor souls who need so much help are also our teachers.
Agree that suppression can exacerbate problems; just look at some whom "choose" celibacy for dogmatic adherence to an invented icon of worship.
Those people live in fear and are largely unconscious of themselves... Instead projecting onto, and persecuting 'others' for evoking their own suppressed and now distorted natures. These people are incapable of taking responsibility for their own thoughts and feelings because they are not conscious enough to do so... Instead offloading that responsibility to some imaginary deity that is supposed to magically make everything 'ok' simply by being believed in. These people live in fear their whole lives and are terrified of not appearing to fit in with the group. But these people don't need to be persecuted either. There is no such thing as a bad person, Just unconscious people who do terrible things out of ignorance and fear.
I choose celibacy because I have not come across people with whom I would feel safe with... Most people have issues, and I would avoid having sex with someone if it enables any of their dysfunctions... In other words, I would not be celibate in the world I described, but I am pretty much celibate in this one because I do not wish to add to and perpetuate this reality.
That would all change if I met some awesome wholesome and healthy people with no issues.
But if I never meet them I don't care .. and I'm certainly not hunting for them. I don't suppress myself... If I feel like exploring something, I don't hold myself back. I just refuse to enable other people's dysfunctions.
Sex is not important to me, and I don't mind what others do so long as they do not try to force me to participate, and so long as they do not abuse and distort other people in order to gratify themselves.
