A noteworthy bit, given the discussion here, is that the presenter distinguishes between the tablet focused interface and traditional desktop as the "start screen" & "desktop" respectively.
The implication is that for the desktop the Tablet interface is the realization of the earlier rumors of Windows 8 having an intermediate station to enable quicker access to certain functions, from boot. Ergo the Windows 7 style desktop is still being regarded as _the_ desktop, and for the desktop the tablet interface is basically a lightweight waystation.
Ergo there's no need to panic. It's not like they've decided to bar WindowsPager.
