Which Is Better: Pong Or Pacman?

Pong or Pacman?

And Pong looked to the people of the West and saw that they worshipped the bat and the ball. And he looked kindly upon them.

But when he looked to the middle east he was saddened. For in their hearts they had turned from Pong.

And he spoke to the leader of the True Gamers and commanded him to punish the followers of Pacman. And the armies of the West rained fire and brimstone upon the non-believers.

And the leader of the West spoke and told his people "Pong told me to invade Iraq". And while some praised Pong, many believed their leader was a fruit cake.

Without Pong there could have been no Pacman.

Later games are always going to be popular since technology/techniques move on and the oldies will always remain classics

A better topic might have been:

Which is better Pacman or Space Invaders?

@DaveC: I don't like our prospects now, and I don't like our prospects for '08. IMHO Hillary's got not balls (both literally and figuratively) and will sway her opinion according to the people's wants more than the political needs.

Obama is not experienced enough for president and I don't think he will win the vote in the South if he wins the nomination.

John McCain is the only Republican that I could deal with as president, but that would be because I consider him lesser of more Republican evils.

I think Hillary or Obama would both make decent presidents (I like Obama best, I am not crazy about Hillary but still better than a republican). Remember, and most seem to forget this, it is not only the president that matters but it is the administration they put together. Either one of them would do a good job of that. As for the south, well neither one will win the south. The south are dyed in the wool ruby red and if Jesus himself floated down through the clouds and told them to vote Democratic they would still not do it. The south is a lost cause.

McCain is terrible and so is Guiliani. They would certainly be more of the same neo-con shinannigans if they got in. If you look at a few things other than Iraq (that is a given) that the Bush admin has done to our own country, I have to say no-way to any republicans at this point in time, they are too theocratic. No wonder the terrorists prefer republicans in office in the US and have done things in the past to influence our elections such as the magic Bin-laden tape that surfaces before the election. Not only do they have new recruits (or recruiterments as pres numb-nuts says) flooding in to join their cause now, they have the Bushies making laws to strip away all of our citizens rights here, and sending more troops to "operation cannon fodder". Bush is doing the terrorists work for them.

Hey DaveC, check out Ron Paul. He's what republicans claim to be. Most republicans haven't been "conservative" in practice for decades. He ran as the Libertarian canidate for president in '88 and will be running in the '08 Republican primary.

Really, the whole Democrat-Republican, Left-Right paradigm is false. You're given a choice between Socialists and Fascists, which is no choice at all, really. They both want the same things. They only disagree on how to do it. What we need is someone who actually believes in individual rights and constitutional government, IMO.

Are you al crazy? Pacman of course, because since then the whole idea of Video Games since Pacman is to avoid things, then attack. But with Pong you have to interrupt things.

And, this thread is wrong, where is the religious discussion?

The problem is that the whole Republican party has been infiltrated and taken over by fascists, neo-cons, and Christian fundamentalists. The Republican party of old is gone. It seemed to start with Reagan, and continue to get worse. Now MANY civil rights of US citizens have been stripped, under the guise of the "war on terror".

While not perfect, it seems the Dems are still at least relatively sane and do believe in science, individual rights and constitutional government . We need to have democratic rule for awhile. Maybe the Republican party can then restructure as they will learn that the current ways are not acceptable. They need to return to the "normal" republicans of old, before I could ever consider voting Republican.

Then why did the P.A.T.R.I.O.T Act and the Military Commisions Act pass almost unanimously? I don't see any of these dems attempting to repeal either of the above laws, which is within their power, now. I don't see any real investigations into the totalitarian behavior of the executive. Two party politics are a farce. They'd be one party if they didn't need to feign giving people a choice. They divide and distract with idiotic, irrelevant issues like abortion, flag burning, global warming, gas prices, or gay marriage. While they all agree that the president should be our dictator.

Abortion, flag burning, global warming, gas prices, or gay marriage are are all Republican issues (except for global warming) that they march out at election time to rally their base. The difference is that global warming is actually a real issue (especially if you live near sea level :p ) is scientifically verifyable and is brought up by Democrats.

I don't know, maybe they are working on repealing those others. Maybe they are putting together a plan to do it, we just don't know it yet. Maybe they haven't been in long enough to work on it. Why aren't they making it mandatory to have all voting machines with a *verifyable paper trail* either? To me that is the most important. With hackable/cheatable voting equipment everything is meaningless. We will see, if the democrats do none of these things, or at least try to (Bush will veto everything or do a signing statement anyway) then we are really screwed.

OK, DaveC. Show me where they've shown global warming as a 'scientifically verifiable' fact. Sure, I've heard "warmest year in 400 years" and other such blather, but that only means things were just as warm 400 years ago. A single volcanic eruption puts out more greenhouse gases than all of our cars do in several years. I'd be very interested in a link to this scientific verification ;)

No use of me re-typing here. Google it and make up your own mind.

I have googled it, and I told you the results in my last post... nothing 'scientifically verifiable' blah blah blather blather that I saw.

Whether global warming is actually happening is beside the point. The fact that politicians are ignoring or denying anything that scientists come up with that seems to show this - that's the problem. Although Mr. Blair has got the ball rolling with his proposal to the G8, people are arguing that it isn't enough and the majority of the American government are sitting with cotton wool in their ears (which is a wonderful image to consider).

Oh, and if the Democrats were to vote against the Patriot Act or anything involving basic rights being stripped, they'd be "obstructionist" and "the terrorists would win".
