Pandora Pandora Pong

OT but anyway: anybody remember "House of Pong", crazy monk Nolan in search of "Holly Joystick"? :D

It is about Neuromancer of course (game, not book).

Dixie Flatline story (walkthrough) is interesting even for those who did not read the book nor play game.
I've found it here and here.

Btw, Nolan is homage to Nolan Bushnell, inventor of PONG, first video game and - founder of Atari!

Are you using an analog nub to control the paddles? If so, maybe you could use the other nub to control the paddle's angle somehow? Maybe a powerup?
That would kill single-pandora multiplayer.

Btw: when thinking of pong, it's a shame the nubs don't work like a poti for the perfect retro-feeling.

No it wouldn't, in fact it could add too it. Simply have two sets of bats up/down and left/right, so there's four bats on the screen with each player controlling 2 each. Could be a lot of fun. May have to rotate screen for client so both are controlling left/right bats - this would mean screen would be square though...

Also, I reckon spin could be nicely displayed if the ball had a pattern or dots inside (and was circular, mind your a square rotating could be fun too). Of course this could imply that the ball is constantly spinning and the player has to be aware in order to determine the angle it will bounce off at or they may choose to stop it spinning by giving it some spin in the opposite direction. This effect could be quantized (is that the right word?) so it's actually possible to stop it spinning by a human.
