What a great start - prepare for the next level!

Yeah, I read that. This line threw me, however...
You will probably receive a voucher before the final payment is due, so you will then have to pay less than the full price.
... because that sounds reads like I might be able to preorder, after all, since "final payment" implies several payments and I thought that only with a preorder would there be more than one payment.

It was clear to me that I couldn't use the voucher for the preorder itself, but I was hoping I could use it towards the "final payment", as that line from the FAQ seemed to suggest. Link has set me straight and now you have, too, @EvilDragon .

Since that's not possible, I'm now considering just buying a gift certificate from DragonBox.de, to bolster your funds for buying parts, but that brings up another question:

My iCP2 voucher is will be from Ithic.com, not DragonBox.de. I live in Germany, though*, so I would vastly prefer to be able to order from DragonBox.de. I know there was a vague plan to allow either
  1. transferring vouchers from Link's store to yours, @EvilDragon , or
  2. ordering from Ithic.com, but have the order go to and/or be fulfilled by DragonBox.de.
I'm sure you'll do one of the two. It just doesn't make sense to actually send a bunch of extra Pyra's to the US, when you already know beforehand that they'll just be sent back to Europe.

In the first case (1), I could simply buy a gift voucher from DragonBox.de now, to bolster your funds, and then use it later, together with my (transferred) iCP2 voucher, when the Pyra's actually in stock.

In the second case (2), however, I expect that the payment for the order will have to go to Ithic.com, in which case a gift voucher from DragonBox.de is no good to me.

Any idea which it will be?

*: Not too far from Ingolstadt, actually. I could just drive down there and pick up my Pyra, once it's ready, and... OMG, is that the Kuchlbauer Biermuseum right next to your shop's address? Brilliant, I think it's a trip for the wohle family and I already know where we'll go for lunch then... ;-)

Also, Link will presumably only be selling us mobile versions, so his stock of pyras might not work over here in the EU for mobile internet.
So, I'll wait and see, I have my pre-order secured anyhow.

Oh dear, I hadn't thought of that!

I did want the 4G version and I'd need the EU one, of course.

Now I really I hope it will be possible to transfer the voucher over from Link's store to @EvilDragon 's, or to get a payout IFF I also order from DragonBox.de. Otherwise the voucher from Ithic.com is essentially useless to me...

I forfeited my icp2 voucher to Link as a donation, I don't think he should be personally liable and I wouldn't feel right claiming it.

@EvilDragon ED I sent this as an email but you must be busy, so will ask here
I have ordered a 4GB standard Pyra, if I decided I would like a 4G version can I upgrade my order and maintain my current queue position? I won't be put back to last if I decide on a 4G one?
I am on a carrier in New Zealand that supports LTE on the EURO chip and 3G on the US chip, so I am still working out what to do.

thanks

Yes, a few have done that already. An upgrade is possible with keeping the queue position. Send me an email whenever you want to do that.

@EvilDragon
What is the production time? How many Pyra per week you send once they are produced?

Well, PCB production of 1000 units probably takes two days.
The rest is assembly. Assembly should take about 10 - 15 minutes (hard to tell right now), so if 4 people assemble, then we'd have 16 Pyras per hour, which would be about 120 per day.
So 700 per week WOULD be possible, but at the beginning, as assembly is still new and we need to tweak and optimize a few things, probably 300 - 400 per week are possible.

We can easily send 200 per day, so that shouldn't be an issue :)

If I work it out with Link as planned (that everyone can use the voucher for the final payment), you will get voucher for the DragonBox Shop.
Which means that you can ship wherever you want.
Ok. So I can use the link/dragonbox voucher to pay the additional 345 euros on my current pre-order? As my voucher is worth a bit more than 345 euros. Will I get the difference subtracted from my initial downpayment? Headache inducing;):D

One question ED regarding preorders:

What is the current-preorder number (including the pre-pre ones). I know there is an estimation here: http://p.rdw.se/pyra-preorder.html But could you please provide us with actual numbers (have we already triggered the 650? would be great :))

Oh, but wait, if @Wrath Of Khan can use his voucher to pay off the rest of his preorder, does that mean...

Can I preorder now, paying the full preorder price of 400 Euros right away
and then use the voucher on the final payment, later?

I thought that was not possible. In fact, that's what Link told me.

I am confused.

My voucher is <$80, so definitely not more than the final payment will be.

I'm really interested in how you work this out. I stopped myself from getting DragonBox vouchers since I thought I would have to order from Link directly due the ICP2 history. If it results that you will work out a deal where the order goes through the DragonBox shop for the Link vouchers too then I will start buying gift vouchers in order to "save up" for the Pyra! :)

so im going to be a noob here and ask, when is the estimated construction is going to start?
just getting antsy lol

Wow! Y'all are pro!
So you build some then you send them, then you build some etc... or you build them all then you send them all?

I don't build them, GC builds them and usually delivers them in batches of 100 - 200 to me.
We'll then ship them.

That seems like an incredibly quick turnaround. Maybe for some parts like the LTE chips there could be longer lead times though?

It would be extremely cool if the first batch shipped in time for DebConf16... ;) I see that TI are sponsoring it this year so maybe some of their engineers will be there.
