We need more drama. So here's another video.

Anyone else not received these sorts of e-mails from this site? Pretty sure I signed up for the update mailing list but, as with account and order confirmation e-mails (and support ticket updates), I’m not receiving them - not even in spam/junk.
The only DragonBox e-mails I’m receiving are the occasional alerts to new replies in threads I’m watching, like this one...
You have to sign up to the Pyra Kernel mailing list if you want to see this sort of information. It's not the sort of stuff mailed out to the general public

Ah ok so not the same as ticking the ‘news and updates’ e-mail alerts in account preferences... Are you able to say where I may find the Pyra Kernel mailing list? A quick search wasn’t terribly revealing (maybe for the reason you just gave...?)

Well, battery monitor / charging is mostly done by ToastBucket (but not yet implemented in our test image), speakers being overdriven seems to be a non-issue, as they overdrive if you raise the ALSA volume to 75% or higher - and according to the docs I found, 75% is 0dB, so anything above CAN overdrive (even some of my older laptops do that).
And this happens regardless what speakers I connect - so it has nothing to do with the sealing.

The hang on restart has not yet been looked into more, as no dev had the time yet. Nikolaus knows approximately what it is, as it reboots if we disable some hardware, so we have a good clue.

Power Saving is partly working, normal battery life right now seems to be 10 hours, but that depends a lot on brightness settings.
Do we need to keep volume below 75% to avoid damaging speakers ?

10 hour battery life with display continuously on ? , it is good enough for mobile use as we won't have display on for 10 hours continuously.

@Phlyra , that's because It's not a part of the forums... It's a true old school mailing list... Not sure if it's because of the firewall at work or it's actually broken, but this is typically the link to sign up for it.

Right! Obviously I have lots to learn! Thanks for the link, although after what you said I thought it must be broken (see attached screenshot)...until reading @theredbaron’s reply so now I’m a bit confused as to why it’s not working on my phone :S

Then emails from the list are still outputting the old URL in the signature.

I know... that's an issue with Webmin / VirtualMin (which I use for administration).
It handles MailMan and uses the domain names - but it's own port. And the certificate from that port is from rhea.dragonbox.de

No real idea how to fix that.

Battery charging is mostly stabilized. There is one strange bug where unplugging the charger triggers a logout in Mate when the battery is full. I also need to fix the OTG implementation, but other than that the charger driver is pretty done. Just working on getting my patches pushed into the Letux kernel.

I plan to take a look at the audio driver next to see if anything can be done here. It may be good to check if there’s a configuration to shift the range so that 75+% doesn’t risk damage.

Additionally, ED and I are starting to work on a build server so he has an automated way to manage image builds for new units. All updates to units in the field will be managed by good ole apt. If you want to update your bootloader, that will have to be manual (no way around this). I have instructions for this which I will migrate over to our wiki once I get access.

I love the smell of progress in the morning

Sounds pretty awesome whit the Charging Driver etc, i mean ok its maybe not that impressive than a Dreamcast Emulator in Fullspeed, but its neccessary for the Pyra as its dosnt play any Emulators if its Batterie is empty..

Don't worry about the Battery life.
I have tested it at University for quite some time now.
While doing office work it asts about 8-9 Hours with wifi and USB on.

Far more important is a proper standby mode and faster boot times.
Not being able to enter standby mode is such a wast of battery. And doing a reboot is not a nice solution either

And that is without any real optimization either. That's awesome. My phone gets about 6hours of actual wifi/screen on usages.

And yeah, standby would help. I have actually never had working standby with linux, but the power save would be awesome.

Is there a lid sensor? And is said lid sensor (if it exist) bypassable? Music/video with a closed lid is a major use case for me.

There is a Lid sensor. It will be like a regular laptop, you can change the behavio(u)r of what you want it to do when the the lid is closed. All done in software.

Hall sensor and a magnet. The last time @Grench explained the keyboard layout, he said it translates to a key. I think, it was either the left or the right Super/"Windows" key, but I'm not 100% sure.

By default it should probably be configured to shut down (safest). User selectable someday via menu/configuration to:
Shutdown
Standby
Second Super modifier key
Other

The idea with "Second Super" is that then allows Second Super plus shoulder combos for play/pause/next/prev audio control with lid closed. As ED said, though, software configuration means you do not need to be restricted on it.

The only switch/button on the unit that should be "restricted" from user definition in the OS is probably the power button.
