i have sketchup pro @ work and i can tell you the conversion to 3ds/blender from surfaces to mesh is kind of weird. drawing on faces in sketchup doesn't actually subdivide the face, it creates a new face over the top and connects it via an edge. it's no big deal, i can clean it up in max, check the mesh, then slide it into jmodel via blender.

if you want to send me the 3ds, that would be perfect for me to clean up.

Mithrildor: When I tried to use your maps. They exported to .3ds all funky, when I loaded them up in Blender they looked fine. But upon conversion of JModel, they went all funny. It's probably down to the way SketchUp handles face. I'm not sure how it managed to load in Blender and not JModel. But it's not something I can devote my time to sorting out when it already works fine in Blender.

Sorry.

On topic. I really do need these pitches today. When I wake up in the early afternoon GMT tomorrow, I'm going to post up the poll in Pandora General.

Working on multiple material support in JModel. It would be a bunch easier if the Blender Python documentation wasn't so fucking crap.

I can't model for crap. Could somebody send me a .blend file, with two separate cubes (separate meshes) with two separate textures. Each cube having its own UV mapped texture, in such a way, that if something went wrong I could spot it.

Cheers.

Here are the cubes: (the textures are packed into the .blend file)

EDIT: I was wrong... sorry... I'm stupid.... They're two different objects....

Two different objects is fine!

Thanks man!

Yup, they're working in the model viewer great. Now I have to try and work out how to specify which texture is used for which mesh when I export. This is gonna be a pain. Thanks again!

Translations

The Pandora community seems to be very varied in terms of language. So I've decided to support multiple languages via the use of external files.

If you think you can translate simple phrases like "You are dead, you will respawn in 5 seconds", and menu stuff. Put your details up here.

CODE

cheers!

You need two spaces after each line to start a new line.

You guys have put, under emails, is this needed? I suppose not, but we probably won't be doing translations for a good few weeks. So, it's a good idea, just in case you aren't around, so we can get in contact with you. Otherwise there isn't really much of a point of creating the list. You could put an email address you don't check often, or user name on the forums so we can PM you.

Although the option could be there, i think that 99% of the dutch gamers agree that translations do not improve a game at all ;) I used to hate it when i bought a game, to discover at home that the english speach/text files were not included.

I can understand that. But at the same time, I know a few French/German gamers who won't touch a game unless they get their own version. Also, a lot of people aren't very good at English!

But all language packs will be included with the release, we may have one that just has English and one that has English plus everything else.

hey hey, your map was worse than i imagined. the subdivs in pretty much everything is just a mess. i personally think, due to the simplicity, it would be easier to export the model into blender/max, use it as a guide, and just remodel it. or just learn blender to remodel it. i know sketchup is easy as pie, and i know some game devs start preliminary level design in sketchup, but i'm not sure about that process/workflow.

so yeh..... can you learn blender?
