The soldier looks like stereotypical crap, i like how the guy in the coat came out though.

I'm kinda thinking about how i would want both sides to look, i like how my vision of the rag tag guys are coming out, but i need to develop the authorities, though they are meant to be a rag tag group as well so i need to make them appear as such.

I totally want to model that soldier. Awesome concept.

Ok Ive completed another testmap:

http://www.mediafire.com/?vnyzj4f2tm1

This map is a long map. This map is about pushing your enemy into a corner (the end of the map). To make this harder Ive added 2 corridors. The map has 2 large part (Blue vs Red, 1 part for red, 1 part for blue) and those are mirrored of each other.

With this map I want to test how players use a pushing method and how the other team reacts to this. I want to see what happens if one player moves into an corridor to get to the back of an enemy line to kill them with more ease and drive them back to their spawning point.

Awesome mithrildor.

Just so you know your maps are not directly usable in game, we need to do work to get them working. But its great to quickly realize your thoughts.

Sketchup is great for making prototypes but we cant use it for final game meshes.

Guys If you want to chat to me about anything, my msn is muzzoid (at) hotmail.com

Ok. A final post about the test maps I made.

To start: All these maps aren't meant to be a map in the game. I just want to test how players react to different circumstances , so people can use that information for their own maps.

These are the 4 test maps:

TheBuilding: CODE

TheMaze: CODE
http://www.mediafire.com/file/mmfjy3nwgft/TheMazeTacticsTestMapFixed.skp

TheLenght: CODE
http://www.mediafire.com/file/vnyzj4f2tm1/TheLenghtTestMap.skp

TheHeight: CODE
http://www.mediafire.com/file/oym3juznynz/TheHeightTINCSTestMap.skp

About the Building. I want to test with this map how players react to objects obstructing their view and how they use those objects to hide. The players can use the buildings to get a view over everything.
About the Maze: Almost the same , only now with way more tactics. Main tactics test.
About the Lenght: I want to test if and how players use the 'pushing' method and how the other team reacts to this.
About the Height: I want to test how people still use tactics when the map only is already deadly (when you fall from above , you will be dead) and how they use the map to kill their enemies.

I'd like to have this for my test (if it is possible): The maps must be tested 5 times each. Id like to have the coordinates where people are standing every 5/10 seconds. With this info I should be able to complete my test. They are ofcourse also meant for some fun XD

Yo dude. Have you heard that we're taking entries for the art direction up until Saturday? If you've got more SteamPunk stuff, now's the time to upload it!

You like my new testmaps? And can my maps made in .skp used as a map in the game? Or do I need to remodel them in blender (then I have to learn to use blender :()?

And is it possible for the game to make those files with all the coordinates? Shouldnt be to hard to add that. The game is already reading the coordinates were people are in the game.

Yeah dude. The maps are awesome. It's hard getting the .skp files into the game. We need to use the "Pro" version of SketchUp (the one you have to pay for) to export them into a format Blender can read. In terms of materials and stuff too, it's going to be a real pain if we have to re-apply materials. So for these texture-less test maps it should be ok, I've attempted to export one to JModel, but to no luck, my multiple mesh format isn't working yet. That should be sorted this week.

You seem to have real skills in sketchup. They really won't be that hard to translate to Blender. Blender is totally free too!

Ive found this tutorial of importing .skp files into blender without the need of having Sketchup pro. Im going to check if it works now:

CODE

EDIT: the .dae part works now installing python and blender to do the last part.
EDIT2: Butterman can you try that for me plz? Ive installed Python 3.0.1 , but everytime blender says I didnt install it.

But it still stands that you're going to have to still do a lot of work in Blender, with materials and stuff. Also, Sketchup allows NGons, so you're going to have to triangulate all of your meshes. It's just generally a good idea to learn Blender

Ok meh :( then I will start to learn blender (me = hating google) OR Im going to pirate Sketchup Pro (fack ya google)
Again. You're going to have to do materials and stuff separately even if you export to 3ds via Pro. When I did it, all of the material information was fubared.
