The Pandora Port Request Thread

That would be awesome!
But I don't think it can be...
Itunes cannot be ported by anybody but Apple, and that is just not going to happen. There are other open source programs for managing your music and syncing your ipod (non-touchscreen ipods) which might be ported.

Would it be possible to port OpenKore to Pandora without to much work? It's for playing Ragnarok Online, and currently the only cross-platform client. Even though it's command-line only (because it's primarily an automated bot) it would be really cool to play Ragnarok on the Pandora.

I suppose the main problem is all it's dependencies as it requires Python, Curl and Perl with several extensions in addition to GCC, the GNU headline & GNU make.

Last question, I was thinking could Halo Custom Edition ever be ported or played on the Pandora? I don't think so, but it would be a great way to show off some of the great graphics on the Pandora.

Hi all,

during my daily /.ing I read about a new distro for the Open Moko Freerunner phone, which is based on an ARM processor, too. I remember some guys here asking for backtrack on Pandora, so here it is. It is based on the Debian ARMEL fork, so porting to Pandora should be pretty easy?!

What do you think? How hard will it be, to make the Pandora keyboard work? How hard will a port of it be? I really really like the idea of Neopwn as my secondary Pandora OS!

From what I can tell, Halo Custom Edition is freeware, but not open source, so it could not be ported. And I would assume it requires a decent amount of horse power on an x86, so you probably couldn't run it in dosbox (emulated x86) on the Pandora.

So, no.

Their site says:
QUOTE
Neopwn runs on an optimized FULL custom Debian operating system that boots off of a microSD card with a custom Linux kernel
I'd guess there might be some additional tweaking required, or perhaps some features (hardware drivers) which just might not work. But the fact that it's based on a Debian ARMEL means it should be easier to get software tools up and working.

What would we do with a Smartphone OS that's tweaked to be used with touchscreen only?

Hi, does anyone know of any good music sequencing software that could be ported to the Pandora?

I came across Rosegarden and I think the specs look ok, plus it looks like the source code is available, but I'm happy to be proven wrong!

There have been other discussions about this. Here's one. There is probably some gp2x software which could be recompiled, see, for example, this MIDI sequencer thread. Googling for site:www.gp32x.de pandora sequencing came up with a few things. You might be able to find more with other search terms.

I would like to see cave story on pandora ;)
There is a really good chance since it was on gp2x. I believe two different people had a crack at it.

It's as if developers are getting their projects updated for the Pandora with so many updates announced this week. These are all ports that would be wonderfully suited for the Pandora.

Let's have a quick review:
TwinEngine (Little Big Adventure)
http://sourceforge.net/projects/twin-e/

D2X-XL (Descent 2 OpenGL Port)
http://www.descent2.de/d2x.html

Hero of Allacrost
http://www.allacrost.org/

Lincity-ng (Sim city clone)
http://lincity-ng.berlios.de/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

OpenRedAlert (Red Alert engine revitalised)
http://www.ohloh.net/projects/openredalert

GemRB (Infinity Engine Clone - The Baulder's Gate engine)
http://gemrb.sourceforge.net/

After a week like this, it gives me great hope for the future software that will be ported onto the Pandora.
