SONY PlayStation 4 (PS4)

On the other hand, Judge Judy would say:

"Beauty fades, but dumb is forever" ;)

Just too much about Xbox One I don't like. what really bugs me is forcing Kinect on the users, to me it's an invasive technology.. I don't care about used game aspect personally... I always buy new and never sell any of my games. So the PS4 is looking more and more like what I will get for a next gen console.

I wouldn't be surprised if MS launch an Xbox handheld as a second screen. It has been a rumor for a while now that they are launching one.

It's Official: PS4 Will Not Feature Used Game DRM Like Xbox One
http://www.cinemablend.com/games/It-Official-PS4-Feature-Used-Game-DRM-Like-Xbox-One-56264.html

This clears up a few things:

1.) The PlayStation 4 can play games offline without having to be online. This was clarified the day of the PS4's reveal back on February 20th.

2.) Sony will not have any mandatory DRM for used games. You can buy, play, trade used games on the PlayStation 4 just as usual. No additional registration fees, pay-walls or internet registration required.

3.) If you so choose, you can play games from disc, download them from the digital store or remote load them. Sony doesn't mandate any method over the other for multi-format titles.

4.) Just for extra clarification the PlayStation 4 does not and will not require a constant always-on internet connection.
The updated Kotaku article this references is linked to in the second paragraph.

ps4 could be a possibility for me. I will wait and see until both units are reviewed in the media before deciding.

"PS4 to launch with 3 models, most expensive at $599 [rumor]"

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2013-06-10-ps4-to-launch-with-3-models-most-expensive-at-USD599-rumor

PS4 may launch with three versions, the highest being priced at $599.

The details are expected to be clarified at Sony's own E3 press conference this evening; it's currently unclear what the main differences will be among the PS4 SKUs, but our source said that Sony's looking to push 4K resolution technology as a "stepping stone" to glasses free 3D.

PS4 Launched at $399 (does not include Eye which is a $59 add on)

The big news is that it:

1) Does not need to be connected to the internet (not even once) for games to play

2) Supports used games which can be buoght , sold , lent at the owners whim - unlike with the Xbox One

3) Doesn't have region locking

Here's how Son'y used game sharing works on a PS4:

That's it. I don't think it's even remotely stretching it to suggest XBone is DOA now.

'CBoat' leak about Microsoft being primarily responsible for the DRM fiasco would appear to be true. They even made suggestions their region lock was a legal requirement.

I even like the look of the PS4 - sure, it's another slab - but it's reminiscent of the PS2, and that's got powerful associations for a huge number of gamers.

The war is over. Take my damn money Sony.

Well it looks like the PS4 for me next gen, if I decide to join the next gen.

I'm still going to wait & see what games come out though.

The only fly in the ointment for me is the dual shock controller, I've never been a fan of it when compared to the 360's controller.

Sent from my GT-I9300

I use my PS3 way more than my old Xbox 360, hardly ever boot up the 360 and personally have always preferred the dual shock controller myself.

Was always going to be the Sony route for me, glad to hear will still be able to pick up 2nd hand games easy enough.

Quite a reasonable price I think too, around what I had expected

in case everyone didnt catch it, online play will also cost $5/month on playstation now, i love how jack tretton kind of talked himself around it. but he mentioned that psn+ users will be able to play solo, online, used games, etc. then said regular users will be able to play solo, play offline, and play used games

A better, more confident, less scripted presentation than microsofts.

Microsoft adressed none of the issues with xbox-one.

Ps4 is looking good for me.

The price point is quite a coup it must be said.sony finally did shit right.

This doodad might be updated to set you up:

Here's a nice piece about the response to the 'used games' reveal:

the sustained reaction the company got when it announced that the PlayStation 4 would not restrict the resale and sharing of games on discs was, without hyperbole, easily the most overwhelming reaction I have ever seen to any announcement from an E3 audience (..) . That's over a minute of applause given to this one issue alone. That's "State of the Union address" levels of ridiculous.

Didn't realize there was a correct way to shit  :p

Strangely though, in Australia the PS4 + Eye works out to be more expensive than the Xbox One.
