I've just discovered Legend of Mana for playstation and have to say I'm *IN LOVE*!

This game is just my cup of tea, and i really want to enjoy it on my Pandora but...

There is sound in game, but no sound or badly distorted sound for all the cut scenes. :(

I've tried psx rearmed r10 - r14 with no joy. I tried to r9 but r9 won't even start, it crashes instantly for some reason?

Does anyone have any ideas? Put r9 on a different SD card with it's own appdata directory? Will an earlier revision work and how do I get it?

Has anyone else gotten Legend of Mana to work properly?

Its probably a problem with emulating the game.. have you installed the PS1 bios as instructed?

I didn't think of that. I've now tried bios41A.bin, scph1001.bin, PSO - DTLH3000.BIN, PSO - DTLH3002.BIN, and HLE

All in r14. I experience the same behavior with all of them. Is there any point trying all these BIOS' with the other revisions? Or is there another bios I've missed?

okay. I've tracked down and installed apparently every ps1 bios there is, and tried them all with the same results:

scph7502.bin, Scph7003.bin, scph7001.bin, Scph7000.bin, Scph5502.bin, scph5500.bin, scph5000.bin, scph101.bin, Dtlh3002.bin, Dtlh3000.bin

have all been tested as well as the ones I mentioned before. What I did was load the cd image, then wait for the intro to start, then go and change the bios and resume game. The intro remained silent nomatter which bios I selected. Am I doing this wrong? do i need to change the bios and reset game each time?

Man I hope someone else wants to play this as much as I do... and comes up with a solution. :(

This game is too beautiful to play crippled like this.

My bad that was the GBA iteration of it.. I do have the SNES cart right over on my shelf there.. yep it says Secret of Mana.. I played the GBA version a little too much on my Gamecube GBA reader it seems.

Isn't the PSX version: Legend of Mana?

I just knew the names were different, but had them mixed up in my head. I did just wake up..

If it turns out that fixing this issue is impossible... I think I would even be prepared to go and buy a psp just for this one game! In which case, which version of psp is recommended, and which should be avoided (the Go obviously)?

Maybe you should post into the pcsx rearmed thread to get notaz attention?

This is a long shot, but have you tried setting the BIOS, and quitting and restarting the emulator, instead?

Well it's one more thing to try... And this game is certainly worth the effort. I'll report back once the experiment has completed. =3

Via the wiki i found this one. Hm, could it be possible that the compression rate is to high for playing vids?

How fast is your card?

I had similar issues with Suikoden 2 on a class 2 card and it got better when I ran it using a Class 10 card.

You can also try to use a tool like PocketISO to recompress the videos.

I have kept a copy of PSX Rearmed r7 on my SD card (since it is the only version that seems to run Internal Section perfectly for me, the others tend to have strange audio/video hiccups here and there) and I tried Legend of Mana and at least the initial cut scene played the audio perfectly instead of the static that came on during the scene with r14. Hope this helps!

The repo has archived PSX Rearmed versions going back to r9. Do you know where to find an r7 revision? I'm sort of curious to try this one -- I love the Mana series, and this is one I'd never heard of, either.

I found this link on the gp32x.de boards which still works: notaz.gp2x.de/releases/pcsxr/pcsx_rearmed_r7.pnd.

Yes yes yes yes YES!!!!!! :D

r7 is exactly what you need to play this game perfectly!

You have to clock to 850Mhz for completely stutter free sound, but it literally brought a tear to my eye. I'M SO HAPPY!!!!!

Thank you everyone for all your help and especially a BIG HUUUUGE thanks to Slow Rollin Low! You saved the day!

Now everyone who likes RPGs and especially the Mana series, GO AND GET THIS GAME! It is gorgeous beyond words!
