Should I have received my final order eMail already?

Things i bought:
2016 Pyra
2019 Fxtec Pro1
2023 uConsole
Still have no mobile device with a good keyboard at home since my N900 broke, as i just dont get a single device delivered.
As my order number is >600, i dont think to ever get a pyra now, as i dont see a second batch coming.
So i think about creating my own...
Maybe you should buy a used N900. Just make sure you have GSM or 3G available in your area. E.g. it seems like in the Netherlands 3G is gone in some places. The N900 is a fine phone. You are worth it (I presume (if not, then improve yourself before getting an N900)).

Hi.

Is everyone fine ?

I've heard of floodings in Bavaria, including Ingolstadt workers unable to get to work in some factories.

Is everything fine or are there Pyra cases and mainboards floating on the Danube ?

Hoping everyone and families are safe.

As I know, ED lives near the main station and there are no flood.
People in Germany are helping themself very well. Don't worry.

I ordered in 4/2021. No email beyond the acknowledgement of the preorder. I'm assuming I should have done something that I have yet to do (i.e., my fault). What do I need to do in order to get my unit?

Thanks!

Jim

ED updates the first post when he has more units available.
Your unit shouid be ready if you have placed your order before 05/02/2016
He is still working on orders from 2016. Your 2021 order will be a while.

I know most people here know, but in case some don't know...

Most orders were in the first days, because the project was open and some people knew what was being prepared and were waiting for it long before it was possible to order, so they all ordered a little while after.
Thinking about linear time is wrong. There are a lot of orders in the beginning and then a fast falling curve ...

No worries - I went through the Pandora process as well. I just hadn't checked in a while. Thanks for all the replies!

My N900 already died, was the best phone i ever had. But today i think its outdated.
Decided to get a Gpd micro pc now, as it fits my needs nearly perfect. Keyboard is better than expected an Linux runs fine.

IMO there are only a few problems caused by the N900 being old:
- No 4G (but where I live this is no problem at all yet because both 3G and 2.5G are available)
- No modern SSL, so many websites do not work (but the Maemo Wiki does and that is all you need)
- Old Anki, makes getting decks from Ankiweb a pain

Actually, there is work being done on a new OS for the N900, Maemo 7 (Leste), which solves at least the SSL problem. Though last time I tried it it worked so poorly that I still went back to good old Fremantle.

But the N900 is still pretty powerful. It can actually run Tux Racer pretty fast. That means it is Tux Racer complete in addition to being Turing Complete. To put this into perspective, even the Game Boy Color cannot run Tux Racer (I think)!

UPS just mailed me to remind that the price I paid was without tax :(
2 months is now officially 2 days.
(Ordered at ~day 1, but was slow to confirm my order and missed the last batch of cases)

Enjoy your Pyra once it arrives and don't hesitate to ask any question here :)

Any update on production/shipping progress @Askarus ? Conscious that if/when you become busy again production may also stall (again)... still itching to get mine too!

What we have:
  • 30 EU black ready to delivery on the shelf
  • 24 more ready black units that require an updated Debian 12 with the new bootloader
  • About 50 prepared copper top sides (Screen + keybaord housing)
  • About 50 prepared black top sides (Screen + keybaord housing)
  • 70 more CPU PCBs that were claimed to be dead do boot with the latest uboot, so in total we have something between 100 and 130 CPU PCBs here
  • There are about 27 more EU PCBs here that were tested and do work
  • We have ahand full of US PCBs left, that are being reserved for new orders
  • Many mainboards of different kinds sent to Global Components for repair
What we are lacking:
  • Non-LTE PCBs
  • US PCBs
  • !! Properly set up install image for Debian 12 with the latest botloader and my fixes !!
What we are waiting for:
  • Global Components repairing the PCBs, so we can fulfill the rest of the open Non-LTE orders
  • aTc or Wally creating an OS that is ready for delivery
What are the next steps:
  • I'll prepare the shoulder buttons and bottom caase parts, so that assembly will be faster later.
  • EvilDragon will open 50 more EU orders since we can be sure that we have enough parts to deliver them
What causes delays currently:
  • Gamescom wsas the main blocking factor
  • We are waiting for Global Components to get the PCBs we need
  • I hate the old bootloader, no update, no Pyras. It's really just updating a hand full of packages and the install image with things we already have.
