I never assumed that peoples card were filled with movies, but I don't discount the fact that some people occasionally store movies on their card. At which point it takes up a fair size of the card for just one movie, and I do think they are unlikely to store more than 6 movies at any one point.I think you make too many assumptions. You assume that everyone has their cards filled mostly with movies, you assume that everyone only needs or wants to see 6 things at once or only has a few things to put on their card. You assume that we need to see a big background picture instead of icons. Then you push a design that is based on these assumptions. You even go as far as saying that yes everyone has their cards filled with movies because it is a PMP. PMP? Look at this board. Does everything on here look like movies? I don't know I see alot of homebrew and emulators. I don't have a single movie on my card.
I would think that if they have more than 15 emulators on their card they will pick your one, but if they have less they would want mine. You want your way and yes I want mine. You want to meet in the middle? ok how? By doing both? You know that only one method will be used. They will just pick one and do it. So which one?

I don't think that everybody would pick the same method.
But yes generally I think most people would prefer to have the choice of the two methods.
Argue back. I dare you.
Edit: DaveC being appreciative of peoples opinions again. (above)
You don't KNOW only one method will be chosen?!DaveC posted on Feb 26 2006 at 09:00 AM said:Argue back? Well you still didn't answer how you plan to meet in the middle when you KNOW only one method will be chosen. Yeah it would be great if we can all just pick the one we want and it will be magically coded up just for you. You know that isn't happening.
"I would think that if they have more than 15 emulators on their card they will pick your one, but if they have less they would want mine."
I am sure I am not the only one with 15 or more homebrew games and/or emulators on the card. So now what?
There would be a division, some people would want a scroller and others would want yours. There are pros and cons to both - and different people will want different things. How are you still arguing, surely what I say is common sense?!Imagine it is down to either one. They can only do one, your 6 icon bar or my 20 icon panel. Which one?

Do you have proof this is the case?
I have proof that this is not the case. And even if this is not the case, I will make sure something happens eventually. I am in my first year in University studying Computer Science, so I should aim to be able to code this sort of thing very soon.

Yep the parag0n one may never happen, but I think he is capable. Whether he will or not is a different matter.DaveC posted on Feb 26 2006 at 09:22 AM said:Craig was talking about the official GPH one. The "proof" you give is paragon saying that he could do both. That is not an official GPH one and it may never happen. The GPH one is the one that I am talking about here. You know that there will only be one from them.Hanz™ posted on Feb 26 2006 at 08:08 AM said:You don't KNOW only one method will be chosen?!

As far as you coding one, well you would only code your design though right? Why would you spend time doing one that you don't like? Not much help to me.
Then of course the third scenario is that GPH does one that neither one of us likes.

You do realise that GPH only has 3 people in it, and that Dignysys have now been fired right?
They have hired some (computer?/coders?) engineers I hear, whether they are going to be used for this or not I don't know.
I would spend time doing a design that I wouldn't like as I would want as many people to use my interface as possible. Please note, that as far as this goes, it will probably be quite a while before I am able to do this.
Ahaha fair enough, I don't want to be stuck with something that is made by GPH.DaveC posted on Feb 26 2006 at 09:41 AM said:Hanz™ posted on Feb 26 2006 at 08:32 AM said:We don't know that craig was talking about GPH.

I know that Craig was talking about GPH. I know this from an e-mail.
So yes this is all about the interface in the official firmware. That is why it is so important. It is also why I don't want to be stuck with something that I hate. It will be forever.

I LOVE the "Interface 2" one though...
