I don't think anyone ever addressed the original poster's claim that 800MHz "isn't really overclocking since TI specs it." This is absolutely false. For the chips we're getting, 600MHz is what is specified at the highest voltage level, and the user manual says not to run it at this voltage level for extended periods of time. So if anything 600MHz is overclocking-but-not-really. Of course, 600MHz had better
not be considered as warranty breaking since it's what the chip is advertised it.
Judging by the new 720MHz chips, TI's original specs were possibly a little pessimistic.
All of this "it's not an x86 chip blah blah" stuff seems totally pointless to me because I've NEVER heard of someone frying an x86 from overclocking either. It'd probably only happen if you overvolted it way beyond spec, which I doubt Pandora will even let you do. Yes, overclocking can make it extremely hot, but these chips are designed to survive extremely high temperatures. OMAP3530 can survive all the way up to 90C (105C in extended versions!); I'd be more concerned about injuring
yourself than the chip.

I managed to get my gp2x up to about 260mhz and it did everything I wanted to and expected it to do. Judging by most of the videos and what people have said, most apps are running fine around the 500/600mhz mark and TI are saying that this cpu is 720mhz processor. This gives us some room to play with on the apps that are developed. So unless you crank it up well past its default clock speed I can't see it becoming a serious issue where we have everyone burning their pandoras out.
TI says that the 720MHz chips are 720MHz. OP isn't buying the 720MHz chips; they're much more expensive than the 600MHz ones.
And Mali, nice that you're taking craig's posts as sarcasm, or maybe lucky for him, because I didn't see it that way. At all. I mean, what the fuck craig, way to totally cross the line. If you're that seriously concerned about his comment you can give any replacement requests from him special attention. Just canceling his order or blocking him from ordering upfront is not acceptable.
