All you need to do is get the playstore working and then you dont need to repackage everything as a Bar file.
As far as open source? no Blackberries are known for their security (although they playbook got jailbroken) so RIM never EVER releases source code if they dint absolutely have to. They do have a nice Adboe Air environment, though if you want to develop for it.
