Release Pandora Clock - Release

nice seeing you are still working on it

- the possibility to have a custom Twitter feed displayed on screen (press R when internet is on)
how about adding an rss - feed. Don't see the need for a twitter feed, but having some news via RSS could be really nice.

Also, did you happen to have time/interest to dive into the 'dimming the screen hardware wise' feature-thingy ?

Yep, still working on it, I had 1 week holiday last week and the week before I was preparing for the holiday so I did not touch it. Obviously there is still a lot of work to do on this soft :)

So, to answer your question :

RSS feeds are actually already supported (the twitter support is done through RSS actually, to bypass all their proprietary crap), but I need to modify the display options a little, as I believe RSS feeds do not have the same limit as Twitter feeds for the number of characters to be displayed in their titles. I need to work on that, and try to see how it works with actual RSS feeds to test.

Dimming the screen -> no, have not checked that yet. It's on my to-do list. Before I get there, I would like to make a number of visual improvements with the current clock (I am not very satisfied with how a number of things look currently) to give it more polish, and I want to add internet time synchro as well soon.

I also have a number of issues to fix :

- apparently some issues with the daylight saving time zones...

- am-pm displays 00 AM instead of 12 AM. Should be a quick fix.

- Internet is not detected when it is connected after the soft is launched, even though the application is actively checking every minute if the connection is alive -> i do not understand that bug, though.

A lot of work ahead :)

Thanks for the feedback, by the way, really appreciate it.

Version 1.3.1 released !

This update simply displays the twitter feed in a slightly nicer way, with a box and an icon and better text positioning. Here are two screens below:

i don't have a Pandora (yet), but does this have an 'internet radio' feature? would be cool to select an online station to play upon alarm event... something like the stream at kvsc.org/listen/broadband.m3u

Just a minor request for a toggle-able feature: If it's possible to clean out any URLs that show up in the RSS feeds? This is especially nice if you're using a twitter feed, and every x messages end with some garbled http://twit.to/sdekjfhskdghu, and you won't ever have use of that link because it's a clock app after all.

Could be made... not planned yet. definitely one of the most difficult functions to implement. I have not spent much time on the alarm function because this is not something I would use myself :) I would not leave the Pandora on all night, unless I get around to make it go to sleep and wake up right when the alarm is supposed to ring. Which seems to be possible...

Yes, possible. I'll add it as a future feature. Is it ok to replace it by "[link]" just to make sure people understand sometimes a comment can be linked to specific content?

One of my favourite (as I'm an RPG Fan ;) ):

And of course:

for the latest ROM Translation releases :)

Enough for testing? :D

Yes, quite enough :) thanks!

Version 1.3.2 is in the repo !

A few fixes overall in the appearance, but more importantly the addition of wallpapers in the background (by pressing left/right - pressing full left or full right removes the wallpaper altogether).

6 different wallpapers are included, all available under cc license (not violating any copyright).

At this stage you cannot customize wallpapers but I can include that in a future release.

You can see what it looks like :

correct me if im wrong (i would like to be in this case) but is there no way to get the alarm to ring in loop until stopped ?

I love the work done on this project, I'm a little weary of using it as an Alarm Clock though.. I get violent at things trying to wake me up.

Nope, not currently. I can implement this relatively easily though, I would just need to insert another command to stop the alarm as well (or consider that any button would do).

What kind of loop would you prefer?

Currently the alarm rings 10 seconds and stops.

Do you want it to be continously ringing until someone stops it, or ring at repeating frequencies, such as : 10 seconds for the first minute, then 10 seconds every 30 seconds after, then 10 seconds with 10 seconds breaks, then continuous ?

I am fine with other patterns as well... but I don't want to implement 20 different kinds so I'd like to know what is the best approach to wake people up (disclaimer: i usually do not need an alarm clock to wake up myself).

That's why we need a accelerometer on the Pandora ! :) To make the alarm stop once it bounces off the wall!

Yeah, just a link tag will do, or if possible as an option, completely removed.

My usage would be for instance this news site: http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline.rss?screen_name=NRKno

They publish all article titles to twitter, and then append all tweets with an article link.

Normally I'd just use the RSS link for the article titles themselves directly, but the article titles themselves are utter crap (example: "THIS may be illegal", [image in article]). The article titles on twitter though, are better contained in few words (example: "Newly discovered drug under investigation by the IOC")

And that just works great if you want a newsflash feed just giving you the latest news in few words, but understandable without having to check out some link and open up your web browser.

:)
