Nintendo 3DS

I don't think Capcom is in dire straights(not yet anyways), they always turn profits even with the smallest franchises, but I do think they have hurt their public perception recently with the DLC debacle. They may or may not address it at some point, but I wish them well, as I would love to some of my favs come back overtime. If selling fighters up the wazoo makes it possible to fund another Okami, Mega Man or Ghost & Goblins title, I guess all we can do is go with the flow.

They've hurt their public perception with a lot of things, sadly. I've never seen a company go from being famed for being pro-customer, to being notorious for being anti-customer, so very quickly - it's like a lesson in what not to do. Their financials and the failure of certain games that they expected would sell well (Lost Planet 2, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Street Fighter X Tekken, and I think at least one other, but its name is escaping me right now) certainly don't look good right now. I hope for them that they can turn it around, though. The thing they need to realise is, the thing they're best at is stuff that has a specific niche - right now they're going through one of those phases where it ends up looking like they think they're better than the people who pay their wages, and they're either ripping them off, relegating their stuff to cheaply-made fake-NES-games, insulting them directly (see: Capcom Europe's Twitter feed about a year ago), or ignoring them outright. Worse is that they don't seem to realise how dangerous these things are being to them.

Here's hoping for a return to form soon.

Most video game companies suck, tbh.
True enough.EA used to be abysmal and brutal but they reformed some of their policies.Activision behave very poorly indeed.Nintendo, Microsoft, sony and apple have all been involved in dirty behaviour.End of the day we gotta play so we buy the games anyways. It seems to be the nature of modern corporations to behave badly and compete unfairly etc. There doesen't seem to be any good guy as such so what the heck. Im really loving my vita recently and I gotta admit it's one sweet machine.

The future looks grim. I hope they all don't start developing exclusively for iOS or Android smartphones and tablets.

I actually find Konami to be a bigger disappointment than Capcom, as I have actually been interested/bought several Capcom games over the last years. If your not in to Metal Gear, or don't speak Japanese, Konami no longer offers anything of interest. Very Sad! :(

Well, let's get back on track, Does anyone plan to get Mario Tennis Open?

These are always solid titles, but I'm sure my play time would be very limited with this, so I'm going to save my time and money on this one. I would be more interested in Mario Golf 3D. Oh well, I'm sure it's coming.

I'm waiting for Konami to release a new CastleVania game - they've been incredibly quiet about this franchise since the XBox multiplayer game (Harmoy Of Dispair - which was ace) and the 3D Lords Of Shadow, but that wasn't particularly traditional CV. Both of these came out 18+ months ago. Other than CV, Konami offer very little that I'm interested in now. There was also the awful 1 on 1 CV brawler on Wii.

Hopefully E3 will be full of positive things from Capcom, Konami, Nintendo and co.

I'm planning on it, yes. I've never played any of the previous ones, and the removal of stuff like RPG elements and over-the-top shots has made it sound like my sort of thing. The local single-card multiplayer, and the online stuff, are just icing on the cake. :D It appears to be one of those games that'll suit me down to the ground, and will likely get a lot of playtime out of me.

It was going to be that, or Rayman Origins (I skipped the home version, since I dislike being tethered to a TV), but the demo of that does not make it look good at all, unfortunately - it has a number of problems. For example, the camera is zoomed out a REALLY long way, which rather detracts from the nice animation since you can barely see it. It appears that this was done due to some vertical areas requiring a bigger viewport, but in spite of this, the level of zoom is still not out far enough! It results in leaps of faith when descending, and you can easily get killed before you've even seen it coming - it ends up looking badly-designed. This was in the first available level in the demo, and it did not inspire me to continue - I deleted it right after that. The sound isn't bad, but some folks have reported delays in the sound effects being played, too (they did seem a bit off to me, as well, but not that badly).

If this had been issued a month or two ago, it's entirely possible that I'd be thinking, "They'll probably realise how broken this is, and fix it before release.", but it's out in about a week, here, so there's clearly no chance of that.

UbiSoft really needs to polish up their porting skills - even Rayman 3D, which can quite fairly be described as a "loveless" port and which has a few minor but obvious niggling bugs (not game-breaking ones like this port of Rayman Origins - just ones that detract from the polish), was ported better than this.

Yeah me too. Konami don't seem to release a whole lot nowadays it seems.i gather they had some success in the arcades in japan with rythm dancing games, a genre I despise.Capcoms games always interest me as fare like dragons dogma appeal to me alot.Sega too don't seem to have that magic that they had in the dreamcast era though they still make some good games.Financially sega are doing poorly though and have been for several years.

I've actually been playing RO on the Vita pretty nonstop for the last few weeks, and it is a platforming classic for sure. I also downloaded the 3DS demo yesterday, and I almost choked on how bad it is. It's amazing that you have never played it, and you could see how terrible it was.

I wasn't expecting Vita or console performance, but I did expect a quality title that played to the 3DS strengths but we only seemed to get the weaknesses. I hope they can improve performance/quality by release(this demo could be from early developement), but if they don't, the gameplay is still solid, but I can only reccommend this title to someone if the 3DS is the only console they own. :(

I don't think it's that amazing - it's blatantly a dreadful port-job.

I couldn't recommend a Rayman game to anyone, even if UbiSoft paid me to! I hate them all.
I must admit, the only Rayman game I really like, is Rayman 2: The Great Escape... :p

I was never a fan, and I could never understand how this game made it as far as it did.

When Origins came out last year, and I tried the demo on my PS3, and I still couldn't understand what all the hype was about. Then I was able to try the full game on my Wii, and it was more of the same. Then, finally when the Vita was released, Amazon had a b2g1 sale, so I decided to give it one last try, and I have been hooked ever since.

The original games are still garbage to me, but I would place RO only second to Mario's finest for platform supremacy.

Chris

Oops, I meant, "Why hasn't the PS Vita surpassed the 3DS in sales yet"?
Sadly, I don't think it will ever happen(although I really hope it does).

Nintendo has had the top selling portable handheld since the original gameboy. Almost every generation, there was a more powerful handheld along side it, and Nintendo always comes out on top. The gamegear, lynx, neogeo pocket, turbo express, PSP, ect. These where all better systems hardware wise, but they all suffered from poor battery life, where Nintendo's product always exelled(until the 3DS).

Nintendo also has the greatest selling first party games in the history of video gaming. At the end of the day, Sony just doesn't have the games that have a huge following worldwide. Uncharted is a great western game, but not so great in the east. Mario Kart, Zelda, Mario platformers are all HUGE million plus sellers worldwide. Sadly, most of these games are just repeated every few years, but they sell like hotcakes no matter what.

This is the main reason I don't believe Nintendo will ever loose their top spot in the handheld market. The PSP is selling really well in Japan right now, and it is pretty much dead in every other region. So great software can change the tide at any time.

The Vita can turn itself around, but it will take a huge focus and level of comitment that I just don't believe Sony is capable of. Great games are required, along with dedication to deliver apps and promised functionality in a timely manner. PS1 support was promised, and there has been no mention of it since. The memory card pricing is another black mark on their record, and their content manager is just plain lame.

I really love my Vita(and I think it is superior to the 3DS in almost every possible way), and I've played it more in 2 months than I have played my 3DS in a year+, and with Gravity Rush and Resistance coming in a few weeks, I don't expect to put it down anytime soon. So I'm hoping for some killer announcements from E3, but I won't be suprised if Sony drops the ball there as well, as they just don't seem to have a clue.

Chris

Im pretty confident sony will come through at E3 I get the feeling they plan to do the whole vita thing right having learned from mistakes made with the psp. Im really loving the vita at the moment. It's a very comfortable device to hold.My new job entails a wait at the bus stop sometimes up to an hour.Im eyeing up the psp back catalogue.God of war ghost of sparta is excellent and only 8 euros it's a steal.

Over 6 million sold in Japan alone!!! That's what I call a clear winner out of SONY & Nintendo!!!

http://kotaku.com/59...s-sold-in-japan
Sure the 3ds will be the winner but hopefully the ps vita will succeed in it's own right.I think the 3ds has the kids/women and adult sales whereas the vita is probably bought by mostly adults and teenagers.I think nintendo have a bigger target audience for the 3ds.
