Well, most of the shovelware that is standard fare on the Wii and DS/3DS(and WiiU at some point), will never benefit from this, as the companies who make those kinds of games could care less if the game functions properly or not. Their only concern is your dollars as fast and as quick as possible.I'm more concerned about lazy third parties releasing things full of giant bugs, with the attitude that they can just patch it later.
Capcom has a ton of other issues to deal with currently, so I really hope they don't add poor quality to their resume.@Jumpman - I was actually meaning "big-hitter" companies like Capcom, sadly.
True enough.EA used to be abysmal and brutal but they reformed some of their policies.Activision behave very poorly indeed.Nintendo, Microsoft, sony and apple have all been involved in dirty behaviour.End of the day we gotta play so we buy the games anyways. It seems to be the nature of modern corporations to behave badly and compete unfairly etc. There doesen't seem to be any good guy as such so what the heck. Im really loving my vita recently and I gotta admit it's one sweet machine. Most video game companies suck, tbh.
Speak for yourself. If I disagree with a company's practices, I won't buy from them. There are a few companies (and not just gaming-wise, either - one of them is the world's second-largest retailer, for example) that I won't deal with again, and I stick to that, because I believe that the best way of combatting practices you don't like is to vote with your wallet. Likewise for supporting things that you do like.End of the day we gotta play so we buy the games anyways.
I think that capcoms mature titles will do just fine though. Hopefully they will learn from their mistakes. At least they have said they will stop putting dlc on the actual game disc in future. The thing is though what company is completely clean nowadays. Most of the major game and hardware companies have a history of bad practices.Even nintendo were fined millions for illegal snes game price fixing in conjunction with game or was it dixons. That was why cartridges like streetfighter 2 were about a 100 pounds at the time.Im sure more dirt could be found on ninty too.Microsoft are currently bullying motorola and this has led to xbox 360's being blocked from sale in germany.apple well we don't really need to mentio n how bad they are.Sony have done much dodgy stuff too.We would end up with nothing I think if we were to snub all the companies.that said i avoid apple products because their business practices are based on sueing and screwing. As I mentioned EA were right bas....rds before, but they have reformed many policies recently.I don't agree with the likes of game or gamestop in that they charge nearly full whack for a secondhand copy of a game but i still buy new stuff sometimes in gamestop. Capcom may change their ways if their practices hit them in the wallet I guess.Speak for yourself. If I disagree with a company's practices, I won't buy from them. Capcom has made it remarkably easy not to buy their games, by ceasing making anything I would want to buy, and only applying their poor practices to stuff that I'm not interested in in the first place. Going on the link that Jumpman posted, and their recent financial results, and the comments on Jumpman's link, it seems that lots of other people agree with the approach I described above, too, and have outright stopped buying.
Well, that's the thing - they ARE hitting them in the wallet. But instead of holding their hands up and saying "We goofed up. Sorry.", they're pointing the finger at other companies also making games in the same genres...Capcom may change their ways if their practices hit them in the wallet I guess.
I can go with both points here actually. If I boycotted everyone for every problem, then like Wrath of Khan says, I wouldn't have much to play, but I also can agree with P in regards to standing your ground when need be.Speak for yourself.
