I bet you photoshopped that picture.LOL

So a friend gave me a $20 card for the DSiware shop. Any suggestions on what I should get? I have seriously been avoiding it as everything seemed to be quite overpriced for my liking, but if I've got $20 anyway may as well use it, yo.

Pushmo, Mighty Switch Force, and Mutant Mudds are excellent 3DS games. Shantae:Risky's Revenge,Aura-Aura Climer, and Might Milky Way are great regular DSi/DS games. Yeah, these games can be a little expensive in comparison to IOS apps and such, so you may only be able to get 2-3 games depending on cost. Pushmo and Shantae are probably my favorite of this bunch, but they are all pretty good. If you go to the e-shop, most games have video's and a star rating to help with purchases.

NOTE:Names may vary by region.

3DSWare-wise, Dillon's Rolling Western is a pretty awesome tower-defence game with a twist.

DSiWare-wise, I'm sure I made a recommendations thread a while ago that covered that, but there's been some new additions that I highly recommend, which I haven't yet gone back and bumped it with. GO Series: Undead Storm is an absolute steal at £1.80/$1.99, for example. I really quite like the £1.80 DSiWare selection - there's a bunch of hidden gems, there.

You can't go far wrong with browsing this list (for DSiWare stuff), and this one (for all of the stuff on the 3DS eShop aside from DSiWare stuff). :p

Have any of our UK members gotten "Art of Balance" yet? This was one of my favorite Wiiware titles(if not the best, motion controls done right), and I'm glad to see it coming to the 3DS(US won't be for a few more weeks sadly). It also has 100 new levels to go along with the original 100. This seems to be a great buy, even if you have to pay the higher inflated UK prices.

Aww, shame. :( Still, interesting to see that it was once proposed - I always figured that there was something of substance to that hint in Animal Crossing: Wild World!

As for companies who could do it justice, there is one other - Q-Games, which consists of ex-Argonaut folks who worked on the original two SNES games. :p (Check out X-Scape/"3D Space Tank" on DSiWare - it plays like a Star Fox 3 probably would've ended up, had the original two games not been retconned out of continuity by the Star Fox 64 series. Seriously awesome game. :D )

Please pardon my asking - I'm just slightly confused as to what you're responding to. :p

Oops, I meant, "Why hasn't the PS Vita surpassed the 3DS in sales yet"?
Sadly, I don't think it will ever happen(although I really hope it does).

Nintendo has had the top selling portable handheld since the original gameboy. Almost every generation, there was a more powerful handheld along side it, and Nintendo always comes out on top. The gamegear, lynx, neogeo pocket, turbo express, PSP, ect. These where all better systems hardware wise, but they all suffered from poor battery life, where Nintendo's product always exelled(until the 3DS).

Nintendo also has the greatest selling first party games in the history of video gaming. At the end of the day, Sony just doesn't have the games that have a huge following worldwide. Uncharted is a great western game, but not so great in the east. Mario Kart, Zelda, Mario platformers are all HUGE million plus sellers worldwide. Sadly, most of these games are just repeated every few years, but they sell like hotcakes no matter what.

This is the main reason I don't believe Nintendo will ever loose their top spot in the handheld market. The PSP is selling really well in Japan right now, and it is pretty much dead in every other region. So great software can change the tide at any time.

The Vita can turn itself around, but it will take a huge focus and level of comitment that I just don't believe Sony is capable of. Great games are required, along with dedication to deliver apps and promised functionality in a timely manner. PS1 support was promised, and there has been no mention of it since. The memory card pricing is another black mark on their record, and their content manager is just plain lame.

I really love my Vita(and I think it is superior to the 3DS in almost every possible way), and I've played it more in 2 months than I have played my 3DS in a year+, and with Gravity Rush and Resistance coming in a few weeks, I don't expect to put it down anytime soon. So I'm hoping for some killer announcements from E3, but I won't be suprised if Sony drops the ball there as well, as they just don't seem to have a clue.

Chris

Quite true about there always being a more powerful contender- but it's typically fatally flawed, either in battery life or some other crucial department. The reason I own a 3DS instead of a Vita is because of the Vita's high price point- it's not just a big investment, but it'll cost you when it comes to ridiculously overpriced memory cards, and the fact that there's no back-compatibility with UMDs turned me off. Sure, I never owned a PSP or DS, but back-compatibility would, for me, be a reason to buy the console. Right now, I'm enjoying the games of the original DS on the 3DS- something I can't do with a Vita.

It's a pity, really, because the Vita's an amazing machine- I just don't really feel like owning one. Maybe if it has a successor with built-in memory, I'll consider it.
