Nanox / Microwindows Release A Little Update

question...
is there anything we can do once we use the USB device ( storage ) attached?
like can we get on it and view pictures, watch movies, all that?
yall rock, wether we can or cant
------------
yes, you can get on it and view pictures
and in the future even watch some movies

Do we have to edit the start file at all to make this work??
-----------
i think there is a start in the package

You just run the bootloader.fxe...thats all I did.
Yes, and it works with or without a chatboard

Where can I find some more apps for Nano-X? Would you need to 'port' or recompile any programs to run on GpLinux? Or would they run almost straight out of the 'box'?
The progs using nano X can be compiled with some minor modifications
If you find some good ones, please let us now, especially a file manager...

Will do...I am googleing right now for a filemanager...of any sort.
Couldn't find a file manager...but found this http://nxzilla.sourceforge.net/ Looks interesting
"If you plan on using this as it currently stands to actually do anything with, your crazy."
...

I have found a file manager; working on it.

In fact I have sfm working (using gtk+ libs) but it is VERY slow....
I compiled XMMS as well, but it segfaults, and I don't know why...

I really need a supported usb->eth interface, debugging would be far more easy with this...

Really fantastic & amazing work again Cyberic :)

is there a way to hope one day a mp3 player / pdf reader for this NanoX release?? ;p (yeah I know I'm greedy but seeing that a NxZilla exists then it makes me hope more ;p)

and do you think it's possible to see more "little & free common Linux games" (eg FreeCiv etc...) running on that masterpiece ?? :)

btw is it possible in this version to "rotate" the screen to get it in horizontal display ??

thanks in any cases & congrat' again for you all to make us enjoy a Linux on our lovely GP32 :)

Can't wait to get more news ;)

unfortunately, i dont have time to work on it right now
but cyberic is doing great things

when i have a little time
i will try a ssh connexion and remote display with vnc
and maybe try to see why links for nanox isnt working
and other things

hi, can someone port nxnote ? (notepad for nanox)
and whats about view-ML?
thanks

SCREEN ROTATION IS POSSIBLE!!!!
(see below)

@Sonic-NKT: where can u find nxnote?

> is there a way to hope one day a mp3 player / pdf reader for this NanoX release??
If you find such an app, let us now and we'll try to make it available

>and do you think it's possible to see more "little & free common Linux games" (eg FreeCiv >etc...) running on that masterpiece ??
humm.... how much ram does it require?

>btw is it possible in this version to "rotate" the screen to get it in horizontal display ??
Yes!!!!!!! I've just found it!
It is so simple!!
just replace add "-R" without quotes after ./nano-X
That's it!!!

There is an autoportrait mode, using -A option, but it doesn't work for me... please try it:
press L or R when the mouse is on one edge of the screen...
Here are the details:
" The startup options -N, -L, -R and -D force the server into normal, left, right and upside-down display. The -A option specifies automatic re-orientation to the left or right successively with a mouse-down at the left or right edge of the screen. "

Could smbdy please test simultaneous use of -A and -D, -L or -R ?

oh, that s like for kdrive/tinyx :)
cool

some news : i should have a job soon (my first)
this week or in two weeks
so
maybe i will have some time soon to work a little on nanox

nxnote.. argh i just saw a screenshot somwhere of nanox with this app running.. hard to find?
will search it tomorrow..
will try this -R command now.. :)

Thanks ALOT Cyberic for your answer & your work :)) it's really awesome :))
I'll try the rotation function tonight @home ;p

Concerning the Nano-X apps I found the classical "nxfreecell" as well as the impressive "nxDoom" (yeahhh Doom on a Linux on a GP32 ;op) here :)
Would it be possible to port them easily ???

I heard that Freeciv exists for Zaurus, but it's necessary to create a swap file to use it & he seems really too heavy for our little GP32 :(

I also wanted to ask you if a light/small web browser has been found for GP32 Linux (I mean : is planned to be ported to GP32 Linux) ??

have a nice day :)

we are working on a faster browser ...
for freeciv we can use some swap too
for nxdoom, the answer is no (unless without swap, and with swap it will be slow)

we have to optimise things
right now, with nxterm open
i have 300KB free ram .... :(
