No, Papillon is :)
I'm hoping that you stopped half way and missed out the words "...nothing compared to the book, which is a masterpiece"

It was the right-wing dumbed-down neocon propagandized simplistic black/white-good/evil version of Gladiator (that superior film being not only a great action movie but also containing some pretty good messages for a popular film).

Papillion was great, but I'm afraid I agree that The Godfather was better. :)

Ruckage, you should definitely see 28 Weeks Later! We had a thread about it a few weeks ago. Surprised you missed it.

So Children of Men sounds like a must-see. I heard that Apocolypto was good as well, but I'm kind of leary of getting another Catholic pounding from that whacked-out nutjob. :D

Yes, apocalypto was fantastic. One of the greatest suspense movies ever IMO.

Macario is also an amazing foreign film. Funny thing actually, my old library had all sorts of obscure films (including the impossible (literally) to find "We Cut Heads", which was spike lee's very first film (yes, I copied that from VHS so I could be one of the very few in the world who own it :p). One day I was walking on the beach, and face down I see a VHS copy of macario staring at me in the baking heat. Sure enough, it worked, and I've had it ever since

The best foreign film I've ver seen was "La Vita e bella"... absolutely amazing. I cried like a little girl with a skinned knee. The film takes you through so many emotions throughout it's telling that you're pretty much worn out by the end. Powerful, hopeful, sad, joyous, thought-provoking, and covering a subject that I hope the world at large NEVER forgets or repeats. Seriously, if you see this film and walk away un-touched then cut out your heart, it's clearly not needed.

woo, I saw spiderman 3 yesterday. I thought it was good, although some parts were a bit silly. Not the best in the series.

Not a movie, but I've been watching a program called "Egypt" on UKTV History about Giovanni Belzoni. It's pretty cool and interesting. Gotten me interested in Egypt again and made me interested in buying a copy of his diarys "Belzoni's Travels".

I think i'm gonna go see harry potter pretty soon after it comes out. I didn't pay much attention to order of the phoenix when I read it, I had a headache that day and i crammed it all in on one day so it didn't particularly stick. However, just like with all the other movies, when I watch it the book knowledge will flood back to me allowing me to see all the gaping flaws and subplots that have falled from the book.

You DO realize that your comments get more and more outrageous every time, right? ;)

Oh, and I saw spiderman 3. I particularly enjoyed when peter parker became emo.

The travola-esque dance scene was hilarious.

Was fairly dissapointed with Spiderman 3 - possibly because it wasn't what I thought it was going to be though there were some funny moments. Really not bothered about Harry Potter, I think those stories are derivative and highly overated. There are much better fantasy novels which could be made into movies.

I think this is what he crammed into one day!

Sam's page

And yes, I'm sure you will be able to spot the gaping holes.

I recently watched some great movies!

Lucky Number Slevin - awesome!
V for Vendetta - even more awesome!
Edward Scissorhands - Johnny Depp, do I need to say more?

Recently watched:-

Fearless - Absolutely amazing. Loved every second of it and quite a good life lesson for anyone watching.
Hero - Again, Amazing although not as good as Fearless. Storyline was a bit confusing when it goes back and keeps retelling the story but differently but really good nontheless. Give it a look along with Fearless but watch Hero first as it will seem terrible if you watch Fearless first. And put it in chinese with the english subtitles. The english dubbing ruins the movies. they need to be watched in their natural form.

I watched Xmen III and V for Vendetta yesterday. Both were better than I expcted to be honest, especially V.

Saw Transformers on Monday. It was so fucking horrible, I want to kill Michael Bay. I expected it to be bad, but this was just shitty.

It had some good action sequences, though, because Bay knows how to film an explosion. Whenever the Transformers were fighting with each other, it was some good eye candy, but everything else about this movie was a garbage bag full of elephant diarrhoea that has now tore and is leaking elephant shit all over you.

I said it elsewhere, but Michael Bay should start directing porn, because nobody cares about the plot there either.
