Media Reports

I took cragix's latest tweet that grumbles about non-exposure on bbc and the Reg to heart and submitted a news tip to the Reg.
It's not the first time theregister and/or slashdot have accepted a news tip of mine so keep fingers crossed that it happens this time too.
My last slashdot contribution was during the icontrolpad issue and it was published within minutes.

Let's see if the Brits are as good as the Americans in recognising and picking up important tech-achievement newz!

Lol at this reply on that side:

Dutch:
Je koopt nu een 4x zo snelle telefoon met een 12x zo hoge resolutie voor dit geld (HTC Legend/Desire)...

English:
You can buy a Phone that is 4 times faster and has 12 times the resolution, for th same money...

Not a media report, but good exposure. The "official" NeoGAF thread is up. :) Largely positive comments so far.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=396036
WOW.

That's an excellent quick introduction to the device.

So good, actually, that I think it should be up on the official sites (or at least prominently linked to).

Something about having all of those games and apps in a row of pictures like that is very appealing.

i know its hella lame but i'll be doing a full review on gizmondoforums.com site still gets 14000 monthly views so why not...
Heck the Gizmondo isn´t lame, its still the best handheld around in my opinion...
Just look at the Benefits:
You never have to charge your battery, because it dies when the Giz arrives at your home...
You have an incredible WINCE operating system running in the background all the time.
Okay the GIzmondo was very bad, but it had good build qualit, I loved the unique shoulder buttons,
the Dpad and the action buttons... This thing actually had potential
(and that thus it was made with connections to the mafia and big scam in mind from day one)

I sent in the newstip to get that posted on Tweakers.

I was a bit surprised to see how much people seemed to bash the Pandora :(
You would expect something else, since the Pandora is a real Tweaker device (in my opinion).

Keep the links to reviews coming guys/girls.
That includes community ones. If you say it's well written and not just one line then it makes it in the first post. As I can't vet everything.
I'll update the first post as and when I can.

Oh I've not read neogaf, engadget etc, what's the responses been like, now people know it's shipping?

Wow!! The HTC Legend and Desire have a 2.4 GHz CPU, 1.2 GHz memory bus and a 9600x5760 display?? That's impressive.

I had a quick look at my colleagues Desire and asked for him to show me something that used the power it had.
Well camera functions are a lot faster!
And no I'm not making it up, I'm sure there probably is and will be stuff that uses the power.
But it does go to show raw power isn't everything.

The neogaf thread is worth checking, only about 50 replies, all from gamers, and pretty positive. Engadget/Slashdot comments are the same old noise, don't bother.

I'm still stunned how people are comparing the Pandora to a netbook?

From now on, every time a new handheld device comes out on the market I will question it with "Why would you want this when you can get a netbook?" and I'll insert trollface.jpg afterwards.

Guess it's hard for some people to fully understand the beauty.

1) If they need a netbook, that's what they compare it to.
2) If the need a console, that's what they compare it to.
3) If they just need the apps on a mobile phone, that's what they compare it to.

Now those comparisons are valid in my eyes if that's what your after. But if you want a combination of them all, not including the open nature of it, then it's wrong to compare it that way unless you do it this way.

1) Smaller than a netbook, but also runs a full OS
2) Loads of emu's, ported games, for next to nothing.
3) A wealth of apps for next to nothing.

It covers all of those and not just the one segment. Yes the specialist can do the other segments, just not as good as the Pandora does.

For me I need a UMC, and the games will be a nice touch, I'm hoping it gets me back into play them.

That would be a display that's sixteen times better. Four times would only be a 1600 x 1200 display. Which...they also don't have.

9600x5760 would be 144 times the resolution. (Multiplied by 12 in BOTH directions)
1600x1200 would be 5 times the res, and the wrong aspect ratio. (You probably meant 1600x960 though, which would be 4 times)

12 times the resolution at the correct aspect would be 2771x1663 to the nearest pixel. (173 extra pixels)

:golfclap:

Well done. I am improved by being corrected. Not sure what convinced me the screen was 800x600.

depend of your resolution definition...
to me you seems to speak of "pixel dimension" and not of resolution... as resolution is generally given in DPI or PPI...
