Glowing ember
By F-zero and me
Looks like dHP or a fancy H. Would be great if you can get the H out somehow.By F-zero and me
Not following you. The tweaking isn't meant just for the ambigram dp. It's for the 2 logos certainly being voted on, this for #1 specifically. If you make it a flame then its nothing left, not even a faint d-p, but have a go, by all means.
Just like to present a take on a concept that many people like, ambigram dp. I dare say its more thematical, but its all in the eye that sees.
Its not as big a departure from what you call original logo to what that logo came from, the p and _a_ in pyra.
Its state is no more final than fzero has made in firstpost, which was a good effort, but it isnt as a variation distinguisable from just going out and nicking one of the many logos that variations on _the same_.
dp-concept, i get it, its an ambigram, but to have the whole thing be a variation of an idea based on the fact is taking it too far.
Well, actually it was tied. It tells that people like the general design better. Am sure he will make the logo look right on the led. He pick four and that was pretty much done other than blind voting and multiple choice, that I think wouldn't have that much change to the results. And just because it has the most votes now doesnt tell much about the logo, it goes back and forth, and actually had fewer votes in the end on the last vote.
Which is why curmulative voting is such a horrible idea, it wastes time, gives no meaningful results, and proves itself to be arbritrary. Its even logically flawed, a vote _against_ something is as valid as any, but it doesnt account for what the voter _really wanted_, with results being open you can only waste your vote on _not_ one or the other of the 2 most popular, and the blank vote is a deaf silence.
I have accumulated the information that ED thinks there should be a logo thats also on the lid. This plan fails when you add leds in retrospect.
So who decided the nr1 is the best one, actually the people who voted for something else earlier on...
Here is how its done, take all the proposed logos, hit up multiple choice checkbox vote. Make the results hidden and draw conclusions once results from a second one thats public all the way is in.
That way you see if there is a difference, and you have as good a control group as you can.
It's not a small change of the logo, it is a completely different design than from what is being voted on.I dont for the life of me understand the sentiment that logos are too far away from something, when its in a thread to _tweak it_
What i get from 1 having to be tweaked, from the same authority who picked it, is that it needs doing, what you do instead is the opposite.
Well, like I said.what you presented actually looks like
and not
There is no negative space outline on a black lid, unless you rework it yourself its the exact same thing that isnt fixed but needs to be. And it cant be done with one led unless its really tiny.
It isnt easy to change, and it isnt easy to reproduce, because its a complex shape.
Or even protrude from the case. It would either be done with a bright led or 2 leds. That or have the outline the led instead.Or are you thinking of having that outline in gloss or something, against a matte console lid?
Other than the H and the departure from #1, it looks good. Not sure about those bubbles(?) tho. I like the letters apart or different colors. I can't think of anything that doesn't seem forced.Meanwhile what do you think about the visuals? If the shape of a tilted h bothers you then make up a word, hardware, or something else that fits the bill.
I see what you mean if you are talking about the 70s thing, a bit of americana, costly affaire flare. Something that would be on a expencive item or on a lucrative forn object. In the aspect it looks ancient thats the point.@comradekingu, These logo looks good but i'm not sure that it's the right logo for a game console, maybe if it looked more modern.
I know and I haven't any problem with the fact it looks ancient but it looks too serious I mean two straight letters for a game console. That's why I suggest to make it more modern so that it would look less serious. What is "modern" at any given time, especially now, will not last long, during my lifetime ive seen the mid 90s, there arent many modern in -94 to -96 designs left. Thats because they were shit, so is modern logo design. Half of it is old logos shoehorned into something awful, the rest are mostly inept. Once in a while i see something whole and understand it as such, a break from the noise, good workmanship may not be universially recognized, but as a niche thing it is so great to see it.@comradekingu, These logo looks good but i'm not sure that it's the right logo for a game console, maybe if it looked more modern.
Yes, make the straight parts of the d and P (and H) wavy like what is in the poll, but with 2 lines on each side how you have it. I have no clue if it will actually look good, but it might help some people.Didnt understand what you meant, curve up the columns?
I just verified this: the current 3 big home console logos all consist of letters in various fonts. The Xbox and PlayStation logos for the entire lines are also an X in a ball and a P with an S as a shadow or something. The U for the Wii U is in a rounded rectangle. If anything, going with letters seems to be exactly the thing to do for a modern game console.I know and I haven't any problem with the fact it looks ancient but it looks too serious I mean two straight letters for a game console. That's why I suggest to make it more modern so that it would look less serious.
Such a tiring stereotype.I think the target audience here is 16+. We all probably like nintendo, but not so much being seen with our nds-es in public. Most game consoles cater to children, or people who arent smart enough to operate a PC.
We arent that, and i sure enough own enough silly handhelds from before.
Yeah, because a "handy tool" requires the obvious game controls on the device. Yeah, Pandora completely out sold the DS.Enjoy games, by all means. Consider this though, to people for which it isnt a game console, its a handy tool.
That market is vastly bigger than game console, and it commands more money. People looking at it like a get business done type device are going to be deterred if it looks too playful, or, as sentiment is, "like a toy."
