shit i just had the biggest epiphany ever!
alright so one of the major draw-backs of producing a high-quality commercially advertised open-sourced handheld machine, or any handheld is the lack of games upon launch. i think we may have been duped, as gph probably dumped the crappy battery/processor/RAM/storage gp2x onto us to turn a quick profit, and make a game base for a later device that would actually be worth something (the wiz). im sure most of you are okay with this, but they probably could have made the wiz for the same price YEARS AGO! they just wanted us to do all of their dirty work first.
(but i could be wrong)
As DaveC has said the Pollux was not available that long ago.

I'd still love to see any evidence of this. So would around 80 people who have now emailed me asking for videos/FPS stats. Please give us distributors some numbers or it's a very hard sell to make, not giving this stuff out is damaging the Wiz sales. With the GP2X we had videos/stats very early on which drove the sales really well.
The MMSP2+ (360Mhz) was SLOWER than the GP2X@266Mhz. This is why I'm worried about the Pollux performance in the Wiz.
Have GPH told you not to answer these questions? What's the deal?
First, I'm basing this purely off of the numbers increase in the specifications. I am only guestimating.
Second, the MMSP2+ is slower than the GP2x@266Mhz. Was this not what Squidge claimed could run SquidgeSnes at pretty amazing speeds back when you were looking to use this SoC
Third, the reason no one knows the answer to these questions is probably that people aren't wasting their time testing SquidgeSnes or whatever on the Wiz and are actually using their time to do more worthwhile things and hence no one has the numbers or videos.
Don't you think a really worthwhile thing to do would be to make sure it is actually significantly faster than the GP2X, you know, since GPH are taking money for it already?
As a distributor I'm anxious about the fact you won't seem to answer this issue. Could you run the SNES emulator?
As for the MMSP2+, yes at first it did seem very fast until the framebuffer was brought in to play, at which point the thing bottlenecked like an hour glass and the 360mhz meant nothing.
Also how is the flash performance? Fast? Slow? Boot up times? Any basic info to give customers?
These are all fair questions which have been put against the Pandora, but I cannot get answers anywhere for the Wiz, yet money is changing hands right now. I don't want to have to deal with serious customer anger in a couple of months or so. I'm just trying to avoid repeating the GP2X F100 mess all over again.
I'm not the only distributor or customer feeling this. It would be much better for the Wiz if these facts were on the table now
We got the Dpads changed which is fantastic, can we squeeze out the above info too do you think?
