GPD Win (x86 Computer / Palmtop)

Same issue as with Cyanogenmod on nook HD+, goes to sleep and nothing can make it wake up other than holding the power for 30 sec to force shut down then starting the now powered off system. The equivalent of pulling the battery.
you get any windows log messages at the time you attempt to wake it? It sounds like sleep state / power saving problem. If changing the C state didn't fix it, maybe remove any throttling, over or under clocking and turn off any power save features in windows you got enabled to see if you can't isolate it.

The time I have seen the problem in the past but when I got my first haswell motherboard and the power supply couldn't hit the deep sleep C states that were introduced in that platform. It would either never leave sleep or go into a bluescreen loop.

I'll let you know if anything works.
I got this reply when I made a comment about it on Indiegogo.
This is actually a bug of windows 10 home edition. A sleeping mode will result in the computer crash. We suggest you to cancle the sleeping mode, and wait for intel to provide the uppdating patch.

Thanks to both of you going into details about those issues, fortunately my unit does not suffer from that.

But has anybody else the problem with no WiFi networks beeing found after the device going to sleep/waking up several time - its really annoying.

Here are the exact cover replacements GPD are selling for the WIN, they are $2.

Ah, maybe I should have mentioned that I don't have a credit card, but thanks anyway for taking the time.

Ah, the joys of running Windows. Please sit tight, there's nothing you can do, a patch will be around any time now. Any time...
Maybe its just me, but isn't this the case if you use a Linux based system too (except if you are a kernel hacker), especially if you want to install it on hardware that isn't already on the market for a longer period of time ?

What I would really like to have for the GPD Win, would be a piece of software that would allow me to edit what keys/functions are assigned to the gaming controls. Having proper controls for some Dosbox titles is still giving me a headache: Joy2Key doesn't help much, as I can't put the GPD-Win in game controller mode as I need the mouse (touchscreen does not work right). Using the (Dosbox) built in keymapper works but due to w,a,s,d often already being used for other in-game functions its not a very nice solution.

Yes, linux is a pain to run on new hardware sometimes (probably more often than Windows to be fair), but at least if you can get it to some stage of booting, you can report it on message boards and debug things at the suggestion of more experienced people, to help speed along fixes.

When it comes to running on older hardware, Linux wins outright most of the time though.

I guess you are in a better position - at least in theory. If nobody is interested (that can actually do something about it) you are in the same situation as a Windows user. Handy example: Thinkpad Tablet 8: no working WiFi, ACPI, Bluetooth and Sound since somewhere in 2014.

Originally I wanted to complain, that I am not able to get emulation working - don't have any clue how to setup the controller on zsnes and while I was able to configure snes9x (which doesn't like switching devices on the fly) I am not able to walk diagonally.
But I currently don't care about that, cause my unit is currently dead: Battery was at 10% last evening, so I let it sit with the charger plugged in overnight. This morning I disconnected it without having a closer look, but when I tried to start it, nothing happened - not even a blinking LED. Connected it to the charger in the office again (now for at least 5h), still nothing.
Oh, but StealthbastardDeluxe (HumbleBundle) is worked fine - except that fullscreen only gave me a black screen, but scaling it by 2 and moving the window around a little "fixes" that

I'm pretty happy with my Win so far, my biggest complaint is the same as for the Pandora: I don't have enough time to play with them :(

Status Update: I found out that there are two "Memory Scrambler" options in the bios. I disabled what was enabled and with that got a little further in some games. Crashes got reduced but where still in the once every minute range. But then i disabled Turbo Boost in ThrottleStop and no more crashes at all. I played through the first level of l4d2 without a single lag. This is unbelievable. Did anyone find any reviews of the system after adding the resistor? I am not sure if i should do it or not. Is Turbo Boost really needed for a stable / better framerate or does it only work in the first few minutes anyway (because of throtteling)?

Edit: C&C:RA3 still crashing about once a minute but inbetween those crashes perfectly playable with decent framerate.

Edit2: It seems to be the frequency of crashes got greatly reduced but they are still happening all the time. Got my hopes up too soon..

I had some of them driver crash windows pop ups right at the start, since then Windows has done big updates, I installed all the latest drivers, updated the firmware, etc. Since then I have been playing through Rayman Origins on the device, played for several hours without any issues (no crashes, no stutters). I would very much recommend this game, it plays really well on the device (both in terms of performance and controls, and the game is a masterpiece in terms of visuals, audio, gameplay). I am still slightly worried about whether my unit has any problems after the initial GPU crashes, but I'm hoping to just keep hammering away and see if anything comes up.

With regards to the deep sleep, I feel like I've had it happen once. But then it seemed to do it yesterday, so I pushed the power button again, and just as I did in the screen came on, and then went off again (presumably it took a while to kick in, then received my second push and went off again). I pressed a third time and it came on, so I need to monitor it/investigate a bit more.

One thing I have fallen foul of a couple of times is starting a big Steam download, leaving the devices plugged in via USB to a USB hub (to charge), and then the system sleeping and not finishing the download. Have just manually been changing the power configuration temporarily whilst download for the time being. I would use the proper charging cable but it came with an EU plug and I'm in the UK, so I need to buy a plug converter.

I notice the battery preservation thing happening that goes too 100% then "unplugs" down to about 90% or so then will charge back up. I wonder if the profile is set to sleep being unplugged it's in that discharge cycle.

converter.
Looks like we have\had very similiar experiences (crashing getting solved by updates, power button, system going into sleep) and worries - I used the original charger and one which is rated with 3A max output.
You should try Rayman Legends (which is unfortunately not available DRM-Free), its even better than Origins - played it in on the WiiU and I think its at least on par with the Mario games, if not better in certain regards.
