GPD WIN 2

Guys, the power brick is effectively propriety.

Allow me to explain.

This is the USB-C PD standard doc. You will note on page 471, that the USB-C PD protocol is designed to provide either a 5V, 9V, 15V, or 20V source. Noteworthy in its absence is a 12V option. If you buy say a current Anker power brick compliant with the USB-C PD standard, the GPD Win 2 will not recognize it as a valid power source in my testing.

The Qualcomm QuickCharge spec does include a 12V/1.5A option but as I've already verified with a compatible USB-C power pack, it won't accept that either.

What this means in practice is that your options to charge the Win 2 are effectively limited to their proprietary power brick that supports 12V/2A with a PD header because that's not an Industry Standard. It looks like they're using a proprietary Permissible Power Profile for USB-C PD, which your average USB-C PD source apparently can't do anything with.

@SONY Hey man, haven't seen you around in a while. Welcome back.

Thanks mate, I'm always on the Dingoonity forums if you ever visit there.
Anyway, I might post on here more in the coming weeks.

@PowerGod

Hehe, I don't have a GPD Win 2 yet :(
Been watching heaps of YT vids of it though, but as soon as I do get one, I will definitely post nude pics of me kissing it...thanks for the awesome idea <3

According to GPD, distributors units will be shipped June 20th.

I hope that my units wifi will work reliable :( (arrives tomorrow)
I will report back after comparing it to my thinkpad (and oneplus one)

Mine has the wifi bug, I'm coordinating with GPD to have it repaired. It's more annoying than anything, you have to power it down for a couple seconds and turn it back on and it it works absolutely fine until it restarts and then it's possible it returns, but it's also possible it works as expected.

The analog not being mapped to mouse wheel, is really my biggest complaint past the wifi thing. My other complaint is the device will sometimes go to some sort of deep sleep and I have to hold the power button for a couple seconds to wake it up, the boot time is about 10 seconds so it's not that big of a deal. Another annoyance.

Other than that, it's been a great device for my primarily non gaming use. I've had it for about 3 weeks now. Capping my TDP at 3w with intel extreme turning utility has been really great for web browsing, movie watching and office type tasks and I'm getting 8+ hours of actual use between charges. It gives estimates between 8 - 13 hours and I don't know of a windows utility to track actual screen on time like with android. I'm starting to really get used to typing on it, not as fast as touch typing a normal keyboard, but for what it is, it's nice. The device never gets too warm, the fan never goes too loud (I am essentially down clocking my device though) Data transfers are really quick, first device I've owned that can actually transfer stuff at around 100MB/s from my USB 3 drive most drives peak at around 40MB/s on my laptop/desktop.
