Got An Xbox 360? Hate The Crappy D-Pad?

Is there a PS3 version of this with USB?

I just saw this link http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/19/rock-band-3-mad-catz-keyboard-and-midi-pro-adapter/ and they're making one for all 3 systems, but I like the + shaped D-pad better.

Nothing wrong with that dpad. In fact, it kinda resembles the Pandora's.

It looks like the one on the 360 controller, which I find sucks for games like Pac Man.

The legendary SNES d-pad is also circular ;)

What makes the 360 d-pad so bad is not that it's circular, but what happens underneath. It's a horrible two piece thing that uses an extension to reach the contacts nearly an inch below:

(The actual d-pad disc that you usually see isn't attached in that pic, it screws on where his finger is). This makes it feel less like a pivot action, and more like you're pushing a puck around. I'd be surprised if Mad Catz went this way with their design.

I disagree with the SNES D-Pad being circular. The fact that you can't hit a diagonal by accident helps a lot.

How does a NES pad look internally? Obviously the internals matter, but what you can actually touch also makes something of a difference. You're not going to be able to hit diagonals as easily if you have to hit L + D at the same time.

I got one of these about 6 months ago, been using it exactly like this. :)

The drums are velocity sensitive, it uses varying resistance values depending on the strength of the hit. It is actually a pretty nice pad! There are better options for PC use, though.

I had the odd feeling this pertained somehow...
