Who'd have thought it would be THAT complicated?
Well, but finally, we've got a fully working touchscreen that does not degrade the image quality!

It is the very same that has been used on the late Pandoras.
It's very accurate, doesn't jitter, doesn't degrade the image quality. Well, if you bought a Pandora within the last 6 months, you know how good it works.

I'll try to do some video with it this week, but I'm still so much stuffed with work I'm not sure I'll find the time to setup the video equipment.

But I'm more than happy to finally have one that works!

So much for the short news of this weekend... one issue less on the list, one step closer to mass production :)

I'm curious about how well it works if used with fingers, because one of my Pandoras was good for this, the other one not

It's happening... It's really happening!

If it is the same as the Pandora, does it still support multi-touch?

The screen on my Pandora is great, very accurate, and I have a first batch. I never use it if I can avoid it, it just doesn't feel natural to use nubs/keyboard and then reach up and use the screen.

Those are the best ones in my opinion.

What do you mean with multi-touch ? The Pandora doesn't have it

There are only a few programs (like MyPaint) that use some tricks to simulate pressure size

I also have a first batch Pandora touch screen and I do use it. A lot! :)
The damage/scratches on the screen from the stylus are minimal, even after 6 years of usage and lately (since Opsu) quite intensive even. Top quality imo.
I love it and am fully confident this pyra touch screen will be as great. :)

I love this short news posts as much as the long ones Ed, bring it on! :D

The touchscreen on my CC Pandora isn't bad, but I also ditnt juse it that often as my stylus made some scratches
But I'm happy that whe now have a working touchscreen..

My CC Pandora got these issue whit the Screen Backlight which can't be controlled anymore so I hope the touchscreen is the only part from the Pandora whe use on the pyra

The Pandora's touchscreen has around 16 variable pressure values. It's not a simulated trick, but kinda real.

For the Pyra it was said to have some multi-touch gesture simulation of some sorts... so yeah, what'll happen to that?

From what I remember it was a trick of the touchscreen controller, and it was only for two-finger pinch gestures I think. Is the controller still the same?

Huh? The touchscreen you were already using is the last one you considered? That's ... odd. What's the disadvantage?

I mean, why did you change to a different one in the first place?

The other one was grainy and caused fuzzyness.

I meant that the Pyra screen was supposed to support some multitouch gestures. I am looking forward to trying those out, and just was hoping that switching back to the Pandora touchscreen would not put this feature in jeopardy.

He means the one he was using with the last batch of Pandoras. Why not talk to them straight off and get a sample of that for the Pyra's screen to compare against the alternatives you try? I don't know myself though, I'm just glad is happened in the end.

I'd also be interested to know if this affects multitouch, but hopefully that's down to the controller rather than the plastic layer used.

That is awesome to hear!
So what is there left to do now? The keymat? Optimizing the OS?

Yes, I know that. I am just a bit surprised that the Pandora touchscreen is the last touchscreen he tries.

I would expect that if he had such good experience with it that it would be the first part to consider for the Pyra.

The Two Months entity needed to be appeased... can't blame ED for that...
