Fast Boot Firmware - 15 Second Boots

hi,

i would like to use this, since it seems to work great overall.
but unfortunately none of my 3 sd-cards is compatible for the standard gph kernelupdate.

is there a flasher (like the one on http://www.gbax.com/firmware) available for the oddbot-kernel?

as i understand it, it has to be different from the flasher for the gph 1.4 firmware since it checks for the size of the kernel, which is different from the gph 1.4 firmware one , right?

if so, would be great if someone would care to write one so that the people with the "wrong" sd-cards could profit from this improvement...

Yes, I have the same problem ... the flasher says "Patch Error" while trying to flash the new .img file ... how did you guys flash the .img from the cram-fs package?

Hmmm ... If this is a "read only" file system, how will I be able to save states within DrMD, for example ? Or is it a "read NAND only" file system, which would allow us to write data on the sd card ? This would be surprising ...

I updated by using this gpu file, sweet 14 secs now, my booting time was between 40 and 45 secs before.

One question concerning this read nand only thing. Will there be a problem to update to a forthcoming GPH firmware?

Actually at GPH will be supporting and then integrating homebrew firmware developments into the forthcoming official GPH firmware. http://gp2x.com/support/support_view.asp?b...=05&chk=&direc=
I doubt it. Normally Dignisys manages to persaude them that the community created patches and firmwares are bad. Apparently.

In the end its GPH who is hiring them. Have some balls GPH.

Just a quick preview of what's in store for the next version :)

Also, I might switch to squashfs. I havnt tried it yet, but it produces images that are around 10% smaller and should be a bit faster.

We also have sshd, ftpd and a httpd if you want, it should all be user configurable and allow you to switch between net, serial and storage, but I think most people will go for the network because its the most flexible. Transfer speeds were around 1mbyte/sec which is not as fast as it could be I guess (still better than serial :)), since windows detects it as a 480mbps device.

Pretty sure it's a were-rabbit.

ha. seriously what is up with web designers thinking everything they make has to have some stock art image of a person with headphones. LAME!

Fast boot firmware is excellent! Boot time is 13 seconds for me. Thanks theoddbot! gngeo2x, DrMDx, mamegp2x, squidgenes all work for me. However, nkNES2x don't work. Anyone get nkNES2x to work with the fast boot firmware? or is it because it writes to NAND?

just managed to get lovely fast boot going ( nice work ! )

but gngeo no longer works:

266 gngeo sends me back to the main gp2x menu
gngeo hangs on a black screen

anyone else have the same probs - this is using the gngeo zip from here:

http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?showtopic=24084&st=615

Earlier in this topic a couple of guys said that rage2x is broken with the fast boot firmware. So if you are using rage2x to launch GnGeo2X you will need to go back to using the selector that is bundled with GnGeo2X 0.6.9.

:)

I am a stupid user without any computer knowledge at all, therefore I have no clue what this means, ...but I guess it's good news.

A network connection with ssh/scp (dropbear?), this will be great! And even coming with a dhcpd to speed up the connection setup

Also if this performance test is not too outdated, squashfs performs better than cramfs (even if at this state this won't change boot time much I guess).
