The stated goal was reached, so of course, the goal is being changed...

I am curious about something: Where the hell are you people getting this number? Perhaps you all read something different than I did in ED's post.
[doublepost=1465671286,1465671228][/doublepost]I also don't think he plans on ending preorders even when production starts.

The statistics page used to say we needed 750 preorders to order parts for 1000 units: http://web.archive.org/web/20160510131039/http://p.rdw.se/pyra-preorder.html

That was before ED's post suggesting that we actually needed at least 844 (this very thread's OP in fact), and shortly after that the statistics page was revised to remove that goal. I don't know where people are digging it from these days though; 844-950 is the 1000 unit goal since this thread I think.

Right, but ED wasn't the one that put that page together, even if he was editing the number of prepreorders. I don't remember ever seeing 771 as the magic number.

That 771 was generated by my attempt at estimating the minimum the same way that EDs spreadsheet does. ED gave me a bunch of numbers and such to work with, but it never ended up with the same numbers as ED. Before I've figured out where this discrepency comes from, I've taken down the target estimator.

And now we have people suggesting ED was/is being deceptive... :(

I appreciate your work with the statistics, and ED being open with us.

it's not like ED said he was going to hit a big red button when he got to some magic number. he still has to get the kinks worked out, which is on a different timeline from preorder milestones.

I know that, and I also thought he said he might let preorders keep going once he reaches the number he wants, but see above, and the picture thread.

It's always good to have a bit of a buffer for any unforeseen problems and extra costs. The first will be the most expensive batch by far. (Until we get that cpu board with the AMD x86 SoC, 512gb single chip ssd, and 8gb ram. o_O) None of us are in any real hurry anyway afaik.

@iArnold Please take a picture as avatar, that doesn't show your penis. I hate to say this, but your penis grinning like that looks ugly and disturbs me.

It is my thumb.
Hm-kay, for a thumb its not that ugly I guess.

It's not everyday you get accused of having an uncircumcised micropenis is it? :D
Didn't look that micro to me. That object looks to me like 1 Liter at least. And I had no idea what it could be. Since it seems to have skin and I couldn't identify it, it had to be a deformed penis or something, what else? :)
