Yes, I finally got Bochs GP2X to work with a floppy disk image.

Unfortunately, Overkill, the game I'm trying on it, runs about 8 times slower than it did on my 286. I'll keep looking for a playable game, though, and maybe I'll post pictures if you beg me enough.

i carnt get it to run at all it loads for a second and then it returns to the main menu :S

I'll work on getting a shareware game onto a disk image then I'll upload the image and the config file. Then you can all see it run for yourselfs.

Now, to try Apogee's Crystal Caves...

Crystal Caves - thats a good game.

We should put together a pack of dos games that run at playable speeds on Bochs.

As long as the game is abandonned.

We could start a compatibility section of the wiki, which details if the game is abandonned or not. I got a ton of dos games to test, but no disk drives.

Anyways, I'm ready to test a tonne of games.

I'm getting the same thing. What gives? has anyone got this to run? I followed the directions to a T. I tried a modified image and the one that was given to us.

Take care not to use the bochsrc.txt that comes with the FreeDOS image but the one that comes with Bochs-GP2x. I have seen some people having problems with this.

I'll try to update the tutorial to make this really clear.

Well, so far I haven't got anything to run at an actual playable speed yet, so I'll just post up my "Overkill" disk and config file. It is possibly to eventually get in-game, but after you do get in-game, for some reason the joystick inputs (as the arrow keys, I mean) aren't transferred over, so you can't move, only shoot while staying in one position, and you can't shoot very often because the control responses are too slow.

And remember, this game ran well on a 12 mhz 286 laptop, so I guess it's either very hard to emulate a PC at decent speeds, or you would need to fine-tune the emulator to only emulate a 286 at 12 mhz with EGA graphics rather than VGA.

But I don't really know anything about it.

thanks for the image. but has anyone gotten windows95 to work, if so could you post the image and config file.

I think that might be considered a ROM request.... Unless you mean a working config file and a disk image that Windows 95 has just been deleted from (which wouldn't really help that much).

At least Overkill has been abandoned for over a decade...
