whoa dude you need to calm down. Didn't you notice all the smilies I stuck into that sentence? I thought putting those there would let on that I was JUST KIDDING when I said that. I wouldn't be so hypocritical as that... I've made it pretty clear how much I hate to be labeled, so relax dude
Guess all these peeps callin you fanboy and such must really have you on the defensive eh?
I wouldn't compare playing old games to watching black and white movies on DVD... that's very apples to oranges, but I will say that be it movies or games, there are a lot of great classics out there that will always be fun to play or entertaining to watch... hence why they get called classics... if they weren't good, then they'd just be called OLD. You mean to tell me you never go back and watch old movies (not necessarily black and whites) that you liked in the past? By your mentality, cable TV and every Blockbuster/Hollywood Video would surely go out of business
But to each their own... most of us here have and love our GP's because we still love to play these old games... Me, I was sticking my Xbox in a backpack and hauling that heavy hunk of plastic to work every night for quite a few months once I softmodded it, spending probably a good 6 hours a night going thru and playing many of the old games I loved when I was younger, and also trying many of the old games I had heard were good but never got a chance to try for myself. Once I got my GP, I was more than happy to lighten my load and take that instead. But I love new stuff too... I personally spend a small fortune every few years buying every new system that comes out so I don't miss any great new games, and then spend small fortunes buying every game that gets even a passable good rating from whatever website or magazine reviewer.
That's too bad that you feel that older games are 'limited' as you put it, many people would argue that there's a lot more to love about old games than anything that's come out recently, and that the 3d revolution has taken all the emphasis off fun gameplay and just put it on snazzy graphics. I wouldn't go so far as to say that myself, but I do know that 2d gaming has it's own charm and there were plenty of deep, fantastic older games that will always be a joy to play, and that in some ways newer games have lost some of that charm and magic. Not that I play many of the older ones 'over and over'... I mean I'm only going to beat Super Mario Bros 3 so many times... yeah I'm bored of it, but there are SO many games I never did get to play back then... i was only a kid I couldn't just go buying every game I wanted... and now thanks to emulators I have the chance to go back and play those and man there are some GREAT ones out there that I missed... I'm very glad I am getting the chance to play them now.
And anyways... when did I say battery life was a 'problem'? All I said was that I'm sure that running emus would consume way less battery life than running PSP games, and that that would be sweet. I'm getting average of 4 hours between charges which is fine for me and is more than I play my PSP in any one given day. I never 'changed my stance'... and what's this about telling me to buy a battery or stick with something else? Seriously dude you need to chill.
