Here's a quick look at Squidge's PandaSNES (working title). I've been working on the display code for a couple of days (Squidge's dev board has the wrong type of screen on it) and last night I finally got it running properly.

Please excuse my old camera. I promise it's really smooth and the colours are really vibrant in real life. Hopefully you can at least get an impression of what it's like, though. :)

(edit) Oh, it's running with frameskip disabled.

(edit) Running Chrono Trigger with the graphics problems fixed:

Very nice!

Was it me, or did the background look off during that seen with the airship flying through clouds? Maybe needs transparencies turned on?

Otherwise, looks great! Keep up the good work Squidge! :)

Transparencies are turned on. There are a couple of little graphical faults compared to the same sequence running on other emulators - this may well be my fault. I don't really know much about the SNES, and may have broken a few bits of the graphics emulation code by accident.

I'm sure Squidge'll have it all fixed up nice very soon. :)

cool never had a snes as a kid but will def try it out more on the pandora than i have with the gp2x keep up the fantastic work everyone

Hmm... transparencies don't look like they're working completely. For instance, the block of ice in "antipode" (the move used on the monster after they've run across the bridge), shouldn't fade to black unless transparencies aren't working - it should just fade to nothing. I think there's a couple of layering thingies too. Frog and Chrono's X-strike should have a gigantic transparent X appearing across the screen to map their paths, I believe, but from memory, that happens on a different layer to the usual transparent one (3).

That said, I think the light in the courtroom scene uses transparencies, and looks appalling if they aren't on. Since it doesn't look appalling, it implies that they're at least partly working. Hmm...

Still, very very nice to see CT running at this speed, this speed being pretty darn fast. Pandora's library grows...

This video got me psyched about being able to play super metroid anywhere i want! Keep up the good work!

That's not a bad title.

And the start of a new GP32X meme?

PandaSNES, PandaDrive, PandaJag, maybe? Speaking of which, I do hope that Firefox will be porting his T2K emu over to the Pandora. If not, I shall bug you on yakyak.

Could be. :D

I don't know if the naming scheme would fit all the emulators though, e.g. using something like PandaSpec or PandaSpeccy for the title of a spectrum emulator just doesn't seem to fit somehow. I could be wrong though.
