I can't to afford more to produce batches higher then 500 at once. That's a given fact :)
However, once we start to assemble the first 500 units, money will come in - and that money is being used for the next 500.

So as soon as one batch starts assembly, the next one is already being ordered. The next 1000 keymats will be ordered long before the first 500 units have even been delivered.

I'll also make a video as well as a new newspost with the results. But that will take a while :)

I’m happy, as imagine others would be, to pay off the rest of my unit now. I’m not even in the first 500 unless folks have dropped out. I think the initial preorder deposit was ~$300-ish, maybe half? I can put the rest down now if that helps production. I trust you, ED, and frankly I also just want to know the thing is fully paid off. If that sort of thing helps get the first 500 done easier, maybe it’s worth putting it to all preorderers

The new top shoulder buttons are not rippled anymore? Guess it's not necessary to know which one you're touching now, but I liked that detail.

Also thanks for 3D photos. I'll check them out later on my headset!

You can clearly distinguish between the upper and lower ones now, so yes, it's not needed.

Wait, what are the two ports on the left hand side? They'll be impossible to use both at the same time

@pmprog That's a USB 3.x micro USB port, and those parts are supposed to be that close together. No problem there as far as it looks to me.
Ah, I'd never seen one before. Didn't realise that's what it actually looks like.

It's somewhat interesting that they still apparently call it a micro-B connector despite the old micro-A style of port not being implemented in a USB3.0 flavour as far as I can see. I guess that makes sense in terms of indicating that you can plug a USB2.0 micro-B plug into it, and all of you old micro-A users can go whistle, but otherwise it's the only micro-USB 3.0 port.

I think it's also the only OTG port on the device, as well as the only USB 3.0 port on these devices. You can't get superspeeds both in and out of the system at the same time, but to be honest I'm having a hard time thinking of a situation other than transferring files from one USB hard disc to another that would make use of such speeds.

Given the number of cancellations we received just before I had to stop tracking the preorders, I'd expect most people posting here to be in the first or second batches. But we never knew for sure how long people had been waiting before cancelling their preorders, so it's not possible to differentiate between people always cancelling pretty quickly, and taking their preorders off the near end of the queue (and therefore not shuffling many people up) and people waiting for a while before cancelling, and taking their preoders off nearer the start of the queue.
Indeed. I had a script at one point that was counting the number of cancellations, but I abandoned it when I realised that even if every cancellation was of an order ahead of mine in the queue, and even if there were 600 good units in the first batch of 500 (no rejects), there was still no hope of me getting "cancelled into" the first batch. But I have no doubt that I'll make it into the second batch. :)

Given the honest way EvilDragon has set things up, barring catastrophe, pre-orders are refundable deposits and store coupons are also refundable, so more store coupons would only help if the issue was a cash flow one. And it doesn't seem that cash flow is the important factor here. Rather it seems that the important thing is more one of risk. Until a mass-produced unit is ready to ship and he can actually take a payment for it, EvilDragon is exposed to it's entire cost. There is a limit to how far out on a limb a person is prepared to go. EvilDragon seems to have determined that he's prepared to go out on a limb to the extent of 500 units. (I don't think he is being overly cautious -- 500 units seems to me to be a staggering big risk to take on, even though I think he's certain to sell far more units than that.) That's my take on it anyway -- of course I might have got it entirely wrong.
Hmm... The shoulder buttons on the right (left of the image) look like they fit much better than the ones on the left. Is that an illusion?

this nasa shirt is so cool!
thanks again to azouls for creating these nice new shoulder buttons and moulds.

silver/grey looks nice.
i take any color besides babypukegreen, please.
and, the alien-slime case is by far the coolest one!
:D

i have one picture ED doesnt have :)
I like ED's shirt. A celebration of UK comedy and culture of the late 60s!

Looks to me like the buttons on the left of image fit better than the right. But they're different for sure, I think the pivot on one of them is slightly off kilter, but to me as long as it works fine it's within tolerance in terms of the appearance.

Edit: And I guess how well they work depends on the board being fixed in place properly using pegs that go through the holes in the PCB. Can @EvilDragon confirm that issue has been sorted?

Regarding the fixment of the PCB, I can see in pictures e.g. the one of the underside of the alien goo one that there are hollow pegs coming down from the top of the case. I can't see any pictures of the inside bottom of the case which presumably needs to have the bottom of those pegs which should be slightly wider to create a step that the PCB sits on. I guess the video might show this better.
[doublepost=1563573879][/doublepost]Also, in this image I note two pips on one edge of the lid. Were the screws you were using to secure the lid slightly too long perchance?

Not so funfact: My phone died after 17.5 years of service and I ordered a new phone one day bevore the initial update.
(The charging circuit & connector died -> I had to charge the battery outside of the phone with a lab supply. Now I have to go on a travel for more then one week, which made it a little proplematic to charge the battery.)

Now I've mixed feelings.
At the one hand I'm happy & hyped to see that the pyra is that short bevore shipping.
But at the other hand I'm pissed because I've just bought a new phone.
