Please could Solstar and/or nakeda try this gpe:

Yes, that now works fine for me.
Thanks for your help, nakeda.

I looked at the dates, and so on, and noticed that versions that I'd compiled at home seemed to work for people who've had trouble on firmware 1.4, whereas ones I did in my lunchtime at work don't. 0.4.5 was built at work, and the version I just got you to test for me was built at home (same source, etc.).

I'll take my toolchain to work with me tomorrow and hopefully that will be the end of that problem! The properly-built 0.4.5 is now up at http://www.vividvillage.com/, and I'll put it on the file archive here now.

Phew - that was a worry. My complete home development environment is going with me to work tomorrow. It's really annoying, as I know quite a few people have spent hours trying to get the damn thing to work (both here and on gp32spain). I've let our Spanish friends know that it's fixed now, so hopefully all will go more smoothly now. I also uploaded it the file archive here, which should minimise the chances of any newbies hitting this issue (although the previous version was 0.4.2, which worked fine on all 1.4.0 systems anyway). Thanks to everyone who spent time looking at this.

Critical

Can I just ask how the save-state emulation is coming along?
I haven't worked on uae4all gp2x for a week or so now. Chui's about to release a new version of his dreamcast code, which I want to merge in as soon as possible. He tells me that it has 2 floppy support, zipped adf support, and lots of minor changes too, so I don't want to do any more work until I've merged those in.

Do you think you'll be able to fix the sound soon? It's not bad as it is, but the skipping seems like a relatively easy thing to fix with time. I don't even mind the slowness with some games, lots of games are surprisingly playable and fast even without overclocking.

On another note, has anyone had any luck getting a finnish game called Damage to work? It's a great little game but for me it gives a guru meditation error after a few minutes play.

Tootai - can you describe better where Damage fails for you? I just tracked down the game... and loaded it. I moved around for a few minutes, and it seemed okay. I don't really understand the game (I didn't get the opportunity to kill anyone), so I got bored and stopped. Are you using the LSD cracked version? What are your other settings? There a wiki compatibility list here:

http://wiki.gp2x.org/wiki/UAE4all

where you can register the fact that it doesn't work, and the settings you tried. It's not going to be possible to track issues down otherwise - they'll get lost.

You try to leave the second room and it you just get a guru error after a while of waiting. You should be able to start killing people once you escape from the building, but it seems it's not possible at the moment. Yes I used the LSD version. I tried all the bias settings but XOOOO was the best one.

I don't know why I can't add things to wiki, it doesn't give me an error, the entries just don't appear.

I just tried it in WinUAE 1.1.1 and it gurus in the same place... I wouldn't hold your breath for a fix to that. It's a very odd game, by the look of it. Shame I never got to the killing part, I'm in the mood... MWAHAHAHAHA.

I know you are waiting for Chui to release the new dreamcast version before you do anything, but a friend of mine noticed something that has completely escaped my attention all this time. I know there are no savestates but it seems the emulator doesnt save to the adf at all either. Maybe it is a side effect of the dreamcast version running from cd-rom therefore being read only? This would be handy for a lot of games if you could have a look at it when you get a chance.

Thanks for your continued great work critical.

Yes, that's the case. I believe that Chui's new version will save disk changes to VMU, which is a cool feature for the dc, given its lack of any other writeable device.

I'm going to complete merging in the features I want from e-uae once I've got Chui's latest, in case the minor changes are scattered around all the code. His disk handling is, as you rightly point out, not really appropriate for our purposes... I've already done a fair amount of work on replacing it.

Right, well I know Turrican and Lemmings work fine.

Are you using adf files? You must use adf files, and they must not be zipped.

Glad to hear that you've got it sorted out now. Hope you feel better soon - there seems to be a nasty bug going around.
