sounds great, i was actually playing x-com yesterday, slowly but it was slow on the 500, so amazing, also hiding the status bar will make a couple more of my fave games playable (settlers, space crusade...) so really lookin forwardto this.

Keep it up!
I don't think Settlers will work until sound support is in. I believe on other UAE-alikes people enable sound while it's loading, then disable it again in order to get it to work.

i got ingame on settlers just couldnt see the bottom bit but it was working ok.
thanks

I had a quick look. It looks like my changes to optionally hide the status bar would help, but not entirely. I ran up WinUAE 1.1.1 on my desktop PC and set it to preserve aspect ratio, set the screen size to 320x240, and ran Settlers like that. It too chopped off some of the bottom of the screen. At least with my change, it's chopping off the same amount as WinUAE :/ It's basically because the game uses overscan.

Here's a screenshot from WinUAE:

My local build of uae4all looks like that now too. I don't think you actually *need* to see the other half of that toolbar at the bottom, do you?

Great game, anyway. Could use some mouse acceleration or something, however.

Removed pic.

I`m pretty sure settlers uses 320x256 for it`s screen mode, Well at least in the PAL version.

It could be solved (in distant future) by adding a menu feature to shift the image, in this case upwards.

Mouse acceleration would be handy, for instance like it is done in ScummVm.

Yep, sounds like a plan. Trooper, did you find your GP2X yet, BTW?

I've uploaded 0.2.8 to:

http://www.vividvillage.com/

I'll update the file archive here now.

Changes:

20060210 - version 0.2.8

Added ability to disable status line.
Mapped A button to send keystrokes 'Return', then 'Space'.
Used Iorgy77's new splash screen and background bmps (cheers).

I meant this. Just wondering what the cause is.
Looks like HAM mode or something. When playing the game, it looks like frames aren't being drawn in time properly (sometimes it's clear, mostly it's not). Would be a great game to get working...

Sadly no, I`ve looked even harder for the last few days and still nothing. :(
May have to bite the bullet and purchase another GP2x.

Oh well.

The only buttons in Settlers you might need below the screen are the timer buttons. for I think 45 minutes and one hour. They're to draw your attention back to a menu, a location or what have you after a set time... From top to bottom, I think it's 5, 10, 20, 30, 45 and 60 minutes.

Hey, just got some time to catch back up. I modified the Wiki Submission tool to v0.2.8 ...

Critical ... I'm trying to figure out the concept of RETURN *THEN* SPACE ... In many cases, we need to enter SOMETHING to get past a crack screen or to enter a player name (aka Bar Games - I'm dying to play that again). Until the Virtual Keyboard comes along, is it POSSIBLE to give us something like entering "A" then a RETURN? This way, we could "enter anything" or "enter name" of at least "a" and return to get us by.

Perhaps L + A would do this?

Thanks bro!

The virtual keyboard is here.

http://www.vividvillage.com/

0.3.0 has virtual keyboard support. Things have altered slightly with the mouse left and right clicks. Start still toggles mouse emulation, but the L and R buttons no longer act as mouse clicks until you're in mouse emulation mode.

R now brings up the virtual keyboard. B enters the keystroke you're over, and L dismisses the virtual keyboard. I had a bit of bother getting it to work, I'm afraid, and there's a hack in there for now which means that your data directory *must* be at:

/uae4all/data/

on your SD card, or it won't be able to load the bitmaps for the keys. Lame, I know, but I thought you'd be able to cope with that for now.

Uploading to the file archive here now.

Critical - NICE! That will do!

Now ... for some Bar Games!!
I never actually played Bar Games. I just looked it up on the Lemon Amiga reviews site, and has someone submitted the comment "Mindless taudry fun".

It's downloading at the moment.
