Gngeo2x 0.6.9 *update*

Pepone:

I got the dumpgfx utility to compile on OS X 10.3.9, but I have absolutely *no* graphics at all. It seems like I'm missing a graphic layer though, because I can see the "MAX 330 MEGA" part of the splash screen, and I can see how many credits I have. In Waku Waku 7, I can see the life bars, but that's it. Any ideas?
Stange...
What is the size of you .gfx file?

It's great to see SvC on my GP2X :D: it plays ok without sound when overclocked :D :D :D

It's in the readme.  :D The good thing is the settings are saved and has an effect for all games.

How the readme should look, unfortunately in Windows notepad it looks like crap and you can't make anything out really. Not your fault Pepone, what do you guys use to read the ream me files?

Jostick configuration:
For now, it's not configurable, and don't support macro

Quit: R and StickPush
BIOS: L

This is the first time I have seen this as it is meant to be seen and that was by cutting and pasting the text from the reame to this window. Wierd

Guess what, I'm going to bang on about the wiki page again.

There are one or two titles mentioned on the last couple of pages that haven't been entered on to the wiki page. It would be nice to see the results updated there.

http://wiki.gp2x.org/wiki/GnGeo2x

Also someone has posted their results running their GP2X @ 300mhz. I thought that my posting results @ 266mhz was a bit unfair as some people struglle past 250mhz, but 300mhz? I haven't dared push my GP2X past 266mhz. Should we have an upper limit imposed?

24.7 megs... I assume it's about the right size. I am able to get to (where I assume) the start screen is, so I know the emu is doing like you said. I can only assume I'm getting bad dumps with 10.3.9/the way I compiled it.

Bios access is a new feature added in the last version.

It would be interesting to have a CRC or a MD5 signature of this file, so I can compare if it's a good dump or not.

I got inspired and dug out my KOF95 and Blazing Star romsets.. but no luck so far.

ie: Extract the main zip into gpgneo
Run the (DOS) dumpgfx on the two zip files (blazstar.zip and kof95.zip) which have romsets equiv to MAME095
Drop the gfx files and the zip files into /gpgneo/roms
Created a couple scripts; blazstar.gpe to run the one for instance

Always produces an invliad romset error .. do filenames inside the zip file have to be a specific convention (ie: are MVS roms filenames changing by MAME version or the like? I ripped my own and renamed them for MAME :p)

If I enable stdio redirection, I just get a blank screen and 0b log; perhaps I should remount with sync, though it would be better if pepone can alter his code to sync() now and again :)

MVS BIOS wise I've just got the one-file neo-geo.rom .. though apparently there are multipart ones, so perhaps I've not dumped it correctly. (Ripping apart my MVS main board is intimidating.. I'd hate to kill it :)

Or are these the wrong two games ot start with? All I had handy :)

Pepone: Here's what I got...
Code:
MD5 (wakuwak7.gfx) = 02decf04436c6f8eacccf988d767c891

The dump you'll get from your actual BIOS won't work. Since you own an MVS board, you can legally download the BIOS required by mame. It should have something like 15 files.

I think your bios is not complete. You need the same one than mame.
But even with that, it should at least load the roms...
Can I have a look to your script?

yeah, I've got I think 3 MVS 1-slots, of various ages (the big older ones, and the smaller ones; not the tiniest one though..) -- big box full of carts, too :) Still need Preshitorik Isles and some others, but I got sick of the pricetag a few years ago :p

#/bin/sh
cd /mnt/sd/gngeo
exec /mnt/sd/gngeo/gngeo.gpe /mnt/sd/gngeo/roms/blazstar.zip
#exec /mnt/sd/gngeo/gngeo.gpe /mnt/sd/gngeo/roms/blazstar.zip 1> gngeo.log.txt 2>&1

I also had --sound in the last one, but cut it out when it wouldn't work. Looks like the stdio redirection is the problem since the uncommented exec runs, at least to the bad roms point ;)

The blazstar will work with MAME (on a desktop).

Blazing Star is:
239-c1.bin through c8.bin, and 239-m1.bin, and 239-p1.bin and p2, and the s1 and v1/v2 variations of the name, so about 14 files.

The gfx file is 33MB

I'll have to find one of those multipart BIOS files, thogh I dobt its at that stage yet :)

jeff

#/bin/sh
cd /mnt/sd/gngeo
exec /mnt/sd/gngeo/gngeo.gpe /mnt/sd/gngeo/roms/blazstar.zip
#exec /mnt/sd/gngeo/gngeo.gpe /mnt/sd/gngeo/roms/blazstar.zip 1> gngeo.log.txt 2>&1

jeff

Can you launch gngeo from Sterm?
something like that:
# cd gngeo
# ./gngeo.gpe roms/blazstar.zip >log.txt

and tell me what is the content of log.txt
