British Meet-up

In principal I'd be up for it, but does depend when and where (I doubt parents would be happy with my travelling off to South Wales for a day, for example).

But yeah, sounds fun :)

Might be an idea to find out

a: whos up for a potential uk meet up

b: where everyone is from that would like to meet up

c: who is actually gonna turn up if we do sort a meet ;)

Then depending how many there are in each area, we could possibly sort a few smaller meet ups first, ie: one in north, one in south, one in the midlands

It would be a good way to gauge interest, and no one would have to travel too far, and wouldnt have wasted too much time if no one else turned up :)

If there are some good turn outs, we could base where we have the big meetup on where there was the most activity

Surely the very soon ECTS would be a much much better place to all meet up?
Great idea!

now i'd be up for that, seeing as I have to go to ECTS anyway. In fact it would give me a reason to want to go, 'cos normally I find it really boring. I wonder if Gamepark will be there? If they really are serious about a EURO launch, they better be there, or else!

i'm up for that, but it depends on where everyone meets up, i'm in london. Hey, we could all get some huge groups discounts and stuff.

oh yeah i forgot to ask, would this meeting be during the weekend, as some people do have to work, also i don't drink but being above the legal age i don't mind any part being in a pub. That and i could take pictures of people doing stupid things when they get drunk :D

I think ECTS is always on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Or is that Thurs - Sat. Anyway my mum told me that I've had a leaflet delivered to her house about it so I can find out for sure.

I would love to go to ECTS, my friend drove me there last year and we got a bit lost and only just made it when everyone was leaving, I saw the Gamepark stand very briefly and ordered one soon after I got home.

Oh yeah, its at the end of August, 29th, 30th & 31st I think.

One thing though, I've got an operation on the 26th so I might find it hard to make it, though I'd definately like to meet.

Just thinking, ECTS is a great idea it's London which is pretty central for everyone to go to, and it's in about the right time for everyone to make appropriate plans but not too far in future to get bored waiting and forget about it.

Also if not many people show up then weve got something to do there anyway.

Hey Hey I know...

Why don't we all meet at my house in Albany, New York USA.

It would be closer for me this way!! :)

Or I suppose I could connect to orbitz.com and buy round trip tickets to the UK.

I still like the idea of meeting at my house better though....no offense Axeman. lol

lol I'll meet at yours if you supply the transport!
Regards ECTS i'll be there on the friday, 'cos I get time off work to go. Who eles will be going on the friday? first person to say yes gets a beer if we manage to meet up!

has this person ever tried to navigate there way from anywhere outside London into it?

I am from the Midlands, yippeee!

On a more erm, constructive note.

I went to Elstree the other day off M25 J23. (south mimms) very very easy to get to as it is the second junction after you have left the M1, and only 10 mins after that. It has a train service to kings cross, lots of buses and seems to be a fairly nice area.
For the over 18s there is a Weatherspoons (they know what I mean)
and for the under 18s there is a Maccy D's (they know what I mean too)

the only place I can think of as far as a room ect is concerned is the local school!

Khephren - 'yes' - I claim my beer. I work about 200 metres away. :D

Mine's a Guiness. OK, so it's not quite a beer...

Actually - the price of public transport makes it almost as cheap to go to New york :)

It'd be cool if people who are near each other to get together in groups for car/fuel sharing, thou obviously there woould have to be a designated driver if drinking was to be on the agenda (which definitely seems to be a distinct possibility).

Will have a think about a few things and come back later....

London is easy to get to by public transport, bu that's about it.....

Trains, yes, car most definitely not. Also, it does tend ot be quite expensive, though I' be prepared to do London if that was the general consensus.

Keep the suggestions coming....

personly I would prefer a meeting somewhere just for us gamepark guys.ECTS is too hectic for a bunch of enthusiasts to get together properly.BUT this is just my opinion-I will go with the majority-whatever works.I've been thinking hard and cant think somewhere that fills all the criteria of a meet of this sort. Not knowing much outside of my patch (stoke on trent-I've led the sheltered life of a geek) I dont know of any good meeting place.Where do other dudes who have done this sort of thing go?I know the members of the EDGE magazine forum had a meet once somwhere in a pub.I duuno, maybe there's a family pub in rhyl we could meet in??
