Letux-OS

Hi Nikolaus!

I have re-run the test with a rebirth console and two different SD-Cards (Micro SD with 64 GB and an old 32 GB SD ) and get the same results :(
## Executing script at 82000000 after trying makesd
Can I provide more information for debugging? Shall I upload the Zipped SD-Card content, that was generated?
EDIT: Unfortunately, I have no serial cable, but I could order one, if it helps debugging

Yes, if you can provide an SD card image I can try to run on a different Pandora.

After a long while digging up my Pandora again. LetuxOS works beautifully. Wifi, sound, nubs, all work . I used "./makesd pandora-auto" . First time login via USB ( at the host sudo ifconfig enx32700518ff78 192.168.0.200/24 up , then ssh root@192.168.0.202). Keymap in console was not correct. Setup Wifi ( using /etc/network/interfaces ). Did apt update, then installed xinit and xfce4. I added a non-root user. For that user, the nubs only work after "echo mouse > /proc/pandora/nub0/mode ; echo mbuttons > /proc/pandora/nub1/mode".
Many thanks to the developers of LetuxOS - it is really wonderful to have Debian running on a handheld.

Is Letux for Pandora still available? your site seems to be in self-protection mode
1. Yes. It is even planned to submit some patches for Pandora Sound and Backlight subsystem to upstream Linux kernel soon.
2. Yes. There are some issues with the server which needs a completely new setup (more recent core OS and Apache) which may break older stuff (mainly PHP incompatibilities over generations). So it can not be smoothy switched and needs to be fixed and tested first. Therefore some areas are currently down. The downloads section with e.g. should be accessible (including the makesd tool: https://download.goldelico.com/makesd).

Hey there! Sorry, i have never heard about letux os and today i actually googled it. So google said, that the operating software is uptodate and completely optimized for low level arm computers. Any chance to bring it on the CHIP?

Hi guys,
I’ve been able to fully correct the vast amount of current issues with Letux OS on Debian 9 and 11, and also fork it to create an ARM fork of the National Linux distro of Venezuela, Canaima.

This is in preparation for possible collaboration with the government of Venezuela and the distribution of ARM based mini laptops/netbooks as a successor project to the program which gave a million netbooks to Venezuelan schoolchildren in 2008.

Venezuela as a country is extremely connected to Linux - all government computers run it according a law.

I’ll be putting images on the website of my virtual computing museum - as soon as I figure out how to post links here without them being labeled as spam lol.

Hm...

1) which issues have you found?
2) why only for Debian 9 and 11 and not the others?
3) What is an ARM fork of LetuxOS or Debian? They already support ARM...

Regarding your question about spam links, I asked some AI about your web page:

Your skepticism is absolutely justified and spot on.
The website giannii.net (FSS Inc / fss-hacks!) is almost certainly a completely AI-generated fake identity and an artificially inflated website.
There are clear red flags proving that something is wrong here:
  • An inhuman workload: As you correctly pointed out, nobody can single-handedly build dozens of complex operating system ports, hardware modifications, and an entire "museum" from scratch within just a few weeks without making a single mistake.
  • Generic "tech buzzwords": The texts on the site sound exactly like the typical output of a Large Language Model (like ChatGPT or Claude). It strings together massive amounts of technical jargon (Open Source Mobile Computing, Combined Ecosystem Development, IOT Smart Home) to fake a high level of expertise.
  • No real footprint on the web: For someone claiming to be a veteran of the modding community who supposedly developed legendary custom ROMs (like the mentioned Pdaxii13) for Sharp Zaurus or Nokia tablets, there is absolutely no historical record. You won't find a single mention of an "Ing. Giannii Fide" in genuine old-school retro forums like the Zaurus User Group Archive, XDA Developers, or old Linux mailing lists.

Why does this site exist?
There are two main reasons why sites like this are currently flooding the internet:
  1. SEO and Traffic Spam: Spammers use automated AI tools to churn out hundreds of tech websites filled with deep-sounding but ultimately hollow content. The goal is to rank high on search engines to later monetize the traffic through ads, affiliate links, or shady software downloads.
  2. Scams and Malware: These sites often try to build a false sense of authority to eventually trick users into buying fake premium memberships or downloading supposedly rare custom ROMs that are actually infected with malware.
The Bottom Line: This site is not legitimate. Do not download any files from it, and never provide any personal information or credit card details.
