What are you playing this weekend/these days?

I've been playing fan-translated Japan-only SNES games recently (still on my Pandora) :
- Ihatovo Monogatari : A "combat-less JRPG" based on writings from a Japanese author. Could have been interesting, but the problem is that the way to move forward in the story is to talk to every single NPC and there is often absolutely no way to know who has the next bit of information you need. So you just walk around the map, talking to each and every NPC before walking around the map talking to each and every NPC... And the stories were not interesting enough to keep me going, so I eventually stopped playing.

- Gunman's Proof: It could be summarized as "Zelda with guns" (and it does borrow a lot from Zelda in the looks and gameplay), but that would be unfair to Zelda. There are dungeons, there are a few areas that you unlock by getting new items, but there are no puzzles, just shooting. It's still pretty fun, even though it has questionable design choice (a weird focus on score, money that is hardly needed...) and questionable graphical choices (some enemies look like racist caricatures).

I've also played a bit of the original Donkey Kong because I realized that I had only played its first level. It took me a few tries to get used to some mechanics (especially the deadly falls) but I've found it very enjoyable.

I remember when Wind Waker came out my friend got the Japanese version on the first day and beat it asap via trial & error you describe. I think it took him a few days gaming around the clock. Needless to say he was posting his progress on a forum. What a way to waste a great game.

Incidentally I played FFV fan translation this weekend for a second. It's a cool one. I think I'll play FFIV through though. I remember the feeling when you first start out, that feeling of an epic adventure ahead of you. Just Cecil and Kain (Dragoon). Exciting! And I love the music.

Emu EX + Alpha Package (Pyra)
Testet some of the Updated Emulators because the Doppel DPAD Bug is now gone, ditnt played much on the allready working Emulators bevor, but as now also C64.emu is working, i startet Great Giana Sisters, found the Sound to fast, and put the Emulated Machine to a 50 hz C64, after some tweaking to get the run/stop Button and the Arrow Down on the Keyboard, i played the first 3 Levels.. and found it awesome ^^
Give me a Gameboy Emulator for Super Mario Land and Tetris, and a C64 Emulator, and im happy ^^

Snowrunner (Switch OLED)
Yesterday was the Release for Session 6, which is located in Maine, a Region whit Snow and Mud, and really beautiful Forest and Coast, , i wonder if i would find the House of Stephen King?
I openend one Viewtower, but ditnt played that much more, i found the new ANK Civillian not that good, its just the ANK Army Truck but whit more Attechements, so i think i stay whit my 4 and 5 Achsel Trucks: The big Kollob, the Ziks you found in the Kosmodrome DLC, and the 5 Achsel Azzov ..

I think the next time will be much more Pyra Gameplay, hopefully there is allready more stuff to come from Ptitseb..

Finished Cybernator (SNES) aka "Assault Suit Valken" on my Pandora.
It's a "run and gun" with mechs in big levels with (often) multiple paths. Ìt plays very similarly to "Front Mission: Gun Hazard", except that it's action-only so it's more skill-based.
It's not bad, but I didn't find it that good either.

Evo Search for Eden on SNES9X + at Pyra
I had finally the opportunity to play a bit more on this thing, and the game is great ^^
And chilling, . You start as a small fish and your goal is to evolution, if I remember correctly, there are also land levels in the next world , but I only played the first few Levels, then I had to Savestate for lunch ^^
Something is still wrong whit the Pyra Debian: I had a few freezing bugs so I’m now make a Savestate after every evolution ^^
I had these freezes bevor, but much more in the past, it’s now much more stable..

After some longer gameplay, I noticed the Action Buttons are a bit too stiff, but the DPAD is fine ^^
It’s the early MP Case, so I think newer Pyra should be better, but I would not want to have a new one, as this is the only issue I have ^^

I've decided to give the Kunio-Kun series a try.

I've started with Renegade/Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-Kun (arcade version) but gave up after being unable to get past the first level. It's interesting. It's a pre-double dragon beat 'em up on the paper it's got good concepts and could be cool, but the controls are a bit stiff and the game is just too hard.
So I moved on to River City Ransom/Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari which is easier. It's a simple beat 'em up with stats that you raise by buying food (or other upgrades) with the money you get by beating up enemies. It's a bit too basic. Most of the time you can beat down enemies easily and sometimes they'll eat up your health bar in a few seconds. The upgrades mean that you've got to spend some time grinding for money, but fortunately the game doesn't take too long to finish.

Instead of continue Evo on the Pyra, i thought it were a good idea to beginn whit Final Fantasy VIII Remastered on the Switch
It was a cool game, until they though it were a good idea to make a Number Based Code Input Mini Game as the Group around Squall wanted to jack a Train.. ..
The Idea was good: You are hanging on a Train Waggon and your Mate shouts Numbers on you, but you also have to look on the guards who come around every few seconds..
It would be not a big deal, everytime you got cought, there will be a few seconds more the next time, but: I dont know why but often, its dosnt reconice my input right, and because of this Mission, i closed the game and will continue maybe 2022..

Next time will be Evo Again or maybe something on the Phythian according when i get this Computer..

So, a 14GB patch just arrived for the Dying Light DLC Hellraid with the usual contents update (more story, more quests, more weapons, and more of everything)... I wonder how they are able to constantly add so many things to this game, while they are still actively working on Dying Light 2...

But well... seems like I'll have a play session to do

I really want to get a CRT. For my SNES (NTSC, just got back after 25 years) and Wii (PAL, my overall favorite console).

Do you guys use CRTs?

It's hard for me, because I was always trying to achieve the crispest picture possible, now i'm sick of HD. Really want the Wii to look good again. It was gorgeous on my old trinitron.

I kinda want one with a VCR built in. And not too big. And with good speakers.

And I guess I need a multi system to play both PAL and NTSC? Or could I have my SNES modded with eg SCART??

What is your view on broadcast TVs?

I don’t have a CRT, only a tiny LCD as a Desktop Screen and a bigger LCD as a TV Screen

I begun today whit my Mario 8/16 Bit Projekt on the Pyra:
First whit my alltime favorite Super Mario Land whit DX Romhack over the GBC.Emu on the Pyra,
Ditnt note my Playtime as i think it’s not that necessary, but I defeated the Endboss Tatanga in the second Try and didn’t use Savestate Loading; seems like I played this Game enough in the last 30 Years ^^ , I only used the Savestate to make sure I’m save if the Pyra would get stuck, I can remember it dit this when I played the game via mgba (the first Gameboy Emulator that came to the Pyra) , but the System was really stable ^^

So whiteout a reboot of the Pyra, I got to the next game on my List: Super Mario Land again, but this time as New Super Mario Land Fan Remake via SNES9X+
The Sprites looked much better, but the Physic whas a bit different, so even if I’m quite trained whit SML it needed much more Save and Load State, and the fight against Tatanga at the End was a bit more difficult, but also a cool Game^^

My Pyra ditnt Crash the whole time , but needs now a Recharge, maybe there is room for improvement of the batterie consuming..

My plan is now play Super Mario Land 2 DX, Super Mario Land 3 (whiteout DX) and then the Mario Allstars on SNES9X.. and after that Super Mario World, Yoshis Island and Yoshis New Island on New 2DS

This is just the first half of the Project: according to when I get the Analogue Pocket, I will try again the Games , but this time as Gameboy and GBA Versions whitout Color Hacks on the Hightech Gameboy ^^ But also whit Savestate

I got a Daewoo CRT TV for free (had to open it up, clean up the male-cat pee). Quality is good, but it has not the degaussian reboot that good CRT TV's have, where the image shakes a bit to remove the year-after-year slow extra blurriness it has. Last year I got a Bravia, also for free, and although I miss the aspect ratio, I must say that it looks better on the new LCD. Because I need glasses, I have a build-in blurr filter, so it looks good. I've put the LCD TV in a wooden furniture, so it sounds full and rich. I can connect audio to my old Sony fh-b511 and the sound comes alive, even though the quality is shitty compared to other setup's, like that of my folks.
I've also tried the zoom options on the LCD, and they really suck. It's non-zoomed and a bit squashed for me if I want to see crisp pixels... otoh, with the FF series, the background looks better.
I've got not real room to hold on to the old TV to be honest... so I'll be parting with it when the spring cleaning begins.
I'm looking to buy a BlueRay player, It seems that an old console will do, but I'll probably buy a cheap BluRay player after xmas (when prices go normal?) to see some media I bought that I'm unable to see.

I spend quite a few hours with the Pandora cable playing on the TV (because I got a purplescreen on the Pandora). I need to fix my Pandy now, I've recharged by stand-by batteries and during re-insertion, the internal linux got deconfigured again. So it does not boot up correctly. So I need to fix the right shoulderbutton to boot into firmware restoration mode... things in my todo list. For now, work takes a frontpage...

Finally a use for those tiny little super strong neodymium magnets you got with a tech order in the 2ks. Wave it in a rectilinear spiral cone starting at the edge of a screen and moving away to a point about as far in front of the screen as the diagonal of the screen is. That's an old fashioned manual degaussing, learned when new screens came in with that feature and we were all stuck with our old fashioned crts.
