Sending a sick person to prison is the worst thing you can do for them or the rest of humanity... All you are doing is amplifying and accelerating the disease

Except for the abusive, predatory or violent (i.e. not all abuse is the same) Punishment isn't for the benefit of the perpetrator, but for the peace of mind for the victims and their families. "Abuse" may not even be recognised as a crime by the perpetrator, but effectively destroy the lives of any individuals affected.

Agree that suppression can exacerbate problems; just look at some whom "choose" celibacy for dogmatic adherence to an invented icon of worship.

All I am saying is that prisons should be abolished and replaced with high intensity therapy centers of the highest quality.

The abusive, predatory, and violent are the ones that need the most therapy.

I have no tolerance for people who will do away with or remove others "for their own peace of mind"... Life sucks, this world is rotten... It is full of sick people.. overflowing with them. When you find yourself a 'victim' of such people, it is your opportunity to step up and do your part to change reality (break the cycle), by finding a way to help the person, if you can. The need for revenge (especially when masked as 'justice') is a quality of the unconscious fear driven victim mentality.

The enlightened way to respond to someone who does something terrible to you is to evoke the deepest level of compassion within yourself.

It is not easy, and it cannot be faked... It is about the hardest thing a human is required to do.... It takes a lot of practice and an extreme amount of introspection... Being able to empathize with the perpetrator is mandatory for such levels of compassion...

Yes it is hard, but in this world you will be given ample almost constant opportunities to learn to empathize and develope your compassion.

When you have reached a level of awareness, where you no longer perceive yourself as a victim, regardless of what happens to you... You will know these poor souls who need so much help are also our teachers.

Agree that suppression can exacerbate problems; just look at some whom "choose" celibacy for dogmatic adherence to an invented icon of worship.

Those people live in fear and are largely unconscious of themselves... Instead projecting onto, and persecuting 'others' for evoking their own suppressed and now distorted natures. These people are incapable of taking responsibility for their own thoughts and feelings because they are not conscious enough to do so... Instead offloading that responsibility to some imaginary deity that is supposed to magically make everything 'ok' simply by being believed in. These people live in fear their whole lives and are terrified of not appearing to fit in with the group. But these people don't need to be persecuted either. There is no such thing as a bad person, Just unconscious people who do terrible things out of ignorance and fear.

I choose celibacy because I have not come across people with whom I would feel safe with... Most people have issues, and I would avoid having sex with someone if it enables any of their dysfunctions... In other words, I would not be celibate in the world I described, but I am pretty much celibate in this one because I do not wish to add to and perpetuate this reality.

That would all change if I met some awesome wholesome and healthy people with no issues.

But if I never meet them I don't care .. and I'm certainly not hunting for them. I don't suppress myself... If I feel like exploring something, I don't hold myself back. I just refuse to enable other people's dysfunctions.
Sex is not important to me, and I don't mind what others do so long as they do not try to force me to participate, and so long as they do not abuse and distort other people in order to gratify themselves.

They need to be made to feel responsible for their own actions, and having the excuse of "mental illness" is not a "one size fits all" solution.

You will not agree with me, but I would have violent rapists castrated. Instead it has been known for them to demand access to the child. Or one instance where a woman was raped and left for dead (they attempted to hack her head off) and during her recovery helped council others and wrote a successful self-help book. One of the attackers, while in prison, attempted to sue her for some of the profit as "she wouldn't have had the success she had without him".

So no, prison doesn't work. On that point we may agree to.

I ditnt had much time to read his spoke completly, but the parts i understand was "Its the fault of the satan"..

Maybe whe put too much hope in our new pope when they made the conclave, and franziscus was diverent, but unluckly not diverent enough..

Nivdia's SyleGAN is a generative adversarial pair of neural networks designed to copy a source and generate similar looking pictures. See This Person Does Not Exist and somewhat less successfully (if you read the text at least) This Air-BnB does not exist amongst other sites I couldn't load easily.

Now there's a version as a game, Which Face is Real which presents one image from the source data and one that's been generated by SyleGAN, and your job is to work out which is which. This is part of Project Calling Bullshit which aims to teach us how to discriminate between real data and made up stuff. The game website does have a page teaching you how to tell the difference, which taught me to look out for disconnected wisps of hair when I'd not noticed before, but skips over uneven shoulders, which I find often misshaped on fake images personally, or if it tries to draw fingers to the face, they're usually unhuman blobs that are spat out by the software.

Since Tencent owns 40% of Epic and they refuse to support Linux (which resulted in dropping Linux support against former statements to crowdfunders for Pheonix Point btw) and this is the current communication cube, I guess I'll post it here:

Fiddler seems a bit nasty, but if it's including a secure crypto dll then that'll need to read your certs in order to establish a secure connection, I'd have thought. And if you're running Internet Explorer then to a greater or lesser extend, it's your own damn fault ;)

Edit: I'd assume they're enumerating different processes to detect cracking attempts or something. Bit underhand, but if they were more open about it I'd have no problem with it.

Fiddler is a documented feature by the way: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiddler_(software)

It's owned by the Bulgarians these days, so if I was older, I might suspect the russians of interference rather than the chinese. I personally wouldn't be happy with anything man in the middling all of my https traffic, and they haven't been that open about installing this I guess. I'd be tempted to call for fraud charges, but I don't have any machines that can run the epic store as far as I know (assuming it doesn't run on linux with gl2.0 graphics).

No, running fiddler was intended by the investigator, to look at what the Epic Store executable was doing in the background. It's what fiddler finds that is interesting.

@Gren: Interesting!

So no, he says, Epic aren’t spying for the Chinese government.
So it's not for the Chinese government! Pfew!

Yeah, I phrased that badly. Fiddler is one thing, the crypto stuff is something different. Fiddler will work to enable debugging of the epic store's connection to the internet, but unfortunately, it seems it can also man in the middle all of your htttps traffic while it's running. I've no real idea if it's possible to configure it only to intercept traffic from specific processes, and if they have configured it like that mind you.

Edit: I don't think fiddler was installed by the investigator. He reckons the epic store is creating a dll in c:/fiddler (with read file permissions, but I guess that's a windows weirdness), so unless it's fiddling with his install of fiddler, I assumed it indicated it was installing fiddler.

@levi: The executable is labelled "Progress Telerik Fiddler Web Debugger", so yes, He started Fiddler, then attached it to the Telerik executable to see what it does.
And yes, fiddler is fantastic. For example, you can do a complex web transaction, record that, then replay it to, for example, only develop/fix the new backend.

Ah yeah, seems I stopped reading a critical paragraph too soon:

This shit right here is called Fiddler. It fiddles with your web traffic. It logs the shit out of everything and will decrypt ssl traffic
if you want it to
. That lets it spy on secure traffic. I found my password in these logs when I first logged in.
Fiddler is good. Fiddler is ruthless.

That leaves the question of why it was doing a create file on a dll in c:/fiddler according to the sysinternals logger, but otherwise it lets epic off doing anything especially naughty to my mind. It's software built out of a web browser, meaning it's infected with all of the current tracking and scripting issues of the mainstream web, which was a dumb thing to do if you ask me, but not inherently evil.

Not sure what to think of it, liver cancer could be more food related?
