So GPD have announced that a GPD Pocket 2 is in the works with an Indiegogo campaign happening in the coming months. Details below

SOC: M3-7Y30

Two options 4GB RAM + 128GB emmc5.0 storage, or 8GB RAM

1920*1200 7 inch screen

uSD port

USB-C x 1

USB-A 3.0 x 2

Has support for a lot of mobile phone chargers

3.5mm key travel

Headphone Jack

Fan can be turned off for silent computing

HDMI port has been removed. People can however use a USB-C to HDMI cable

Keyboard will remain not backlit

Battery 3400*2=6800mAh default TDP 4.5W, due to the use of better screen conversion IC and EMMC storage, the machine power consumption is better than the win2, although the battery is smaller.

Indiegogo Launch is tentatively scheduled for July with delivery around August or Sept. All this can change though

Yikes that keyboard looks atrocious. Really doesn't help that it's not backlit either. The fact that they're finally adding uSD support is nice, but going back to eMMC seems blegh.
Finally no alternative mouse pointer controller seems rather limiting.

The trackpoint actually works amazingly well on the original Pocket. Its removal here, presumably in favor of the touch screen is a significant loss. The addition of a uSD card slot can however certainly be argued to be a significant gain, in addition to the more advanced chipset.

Less power consumption, more battery life?

I like the keyboard a lot, actually. Typing http:// and $hello() |grep is easy. It even has it's own key for "quotes and strings". Characters like Pipe and / are easy to type and people who do xml should be happy with dedicated keys < >
Only character I do not like is . it is too close to the escape and too far from the other punctuations (I would put printscreen next to esc). And I would swap home with pgdn. But it looks like easy typing.

The big problem for me is that the lack of the trackpoint makes it much less usable for not touchscreen optimized Linux applications. Also Linux does not support video over USB-C that well yet.

So overall the GPD WIN 2 seems to be a huge usability degradation for me. Very disappointing especially because the Linux drivers for the new SoC are better :(

Wow, I was really getting excited reading the specs, but yeah, that keyboard layout is bad!

I actually like the keyboard layout. What are the issues others see with it?

I quite like it too. My only gripes are that A is wider than Enter, Tab's in a stupid place, I'm not a particular fan of the split < and > keys, and I can't see full-stop and comma, although they're probably there on the <> keys but not picked out in the resolution of that photo. But most of the keys seem to be there somewhere, and it's traditional to have to hunt for punctuation on laptop keyboards. Only keys I can see missing are the locks (ctrl-, num- and scr-lock), Pause, Break and Sysrq, but none of those are keys I use regularly, and ones that are easy to hit on my laptop I've disabled (i.e. caps-lock).

The problem I have with the keyboard (other than those that are unavoidable at this small size) is the removal of the trackpoint. Something's don't work with a touchscreen.

I wonder what target audience they are aiming this one at ?

no developer or office user I know would give up their mouse input for a touchscren ...

so I can see 2 use cases for this : surfing the web and writing emails ... anything more complex on a touchscreen is a pain in the ass
