GPD Win (x86 Computer / Palmtop)

Expecting to charge from a computer and use the device in any real capacity at the same time isn't realistic. It's not for the Pyra either. Even my JXD S7300 couldn't manage that.

I do hope I can at least charge the Pyra while playing video from it via the hdmi cable. The Pandora was great about that, use it during the day, plug it in while putting on a movie at night and bam good charge at the end.

I did have everything else turned off on it, and afaik it doesn't take much computing power to watch a video. But I guess we will see and it isn't really a deal breaker.

Pic or didn't happen! :D

@ED

They are just setting your expectations low, so that you will be pleasantly surprised when you get one :p
[doublepost=1460199003,1460193763][/doublepost]A new Indiegogo update shows some more photos, not sure if that's just solid plastic 3D prints or a prototype. It does seem like it has real sticks and ports in it. That USB port at the back seems to be populated as do the other ports

That's still printed, so probably a proof of concept. A PCB (either a working one or a physical dummy like we had a few of them as well) to make sure everything physically fits.
Hmm, but no keyboard yet.
If they really want to show working prototypes in April, that would be fast (but as mentioned before: that would've been REALLY fast from the start.

Is it possible they are trying to pass 3D printed mockups off as prototypes?

Or, maybe as long as you have a case you can throw whatever you want in it and call it a prototype. That is what other people are doing. :p

Those shoulder buttons look like they should be great for games. They might be a problem if used to control a music player while it is in a pocket since they are so prominent. Maybe the hinge would help out a bit with that. It is obvious they made it primarily for gaming.

I wonder how it will feel when holding it.

Clever strategy actualy! :D

If they manage to do that they must have a better chinese factory environment than you had with all the Pandora fuzz. Indeed, they are pretty fast, at least when it comes to the case design.
No PCB or even a working prototype yet so this part could get more interesting (and questionable).

Looking at those photos, I imagine they have a PCB with the sticks, external sockets and perhaps some buttons populated.
However, that's easy compared to routing all the necessary connections into a BGA SOC.

Any idea why some of the keys are white, and some black?

Diversity? I kinda thought they might have some board, even if it is only a dummy. I guessed that they may have had various things, including input, populated to make sure things worked ok with the case design. That would explain the top and bottom row white keys, but not the one in the middle. Like I said, it was a guess, and I have no real clue.

Looks like makeshift key caps that might have fallen off because it's a prototype, it may be more functional than we are giving them credit for, or maybe not, but replacement part probably.

Unless I totally misunderstood the Chinese to English Google translation, it seems GPD will also be doing a crowd funding in China for the locals. It will be on JD some time after the GPD WIN Indiegogo campaign finishes.

Looks like GPD are aiming for June to start the local chinese round of crowd funding for the GPD WIN.
