Wll Pandora Be Backward Comapatible With F200 And Gp32?

And everyone who is buying the Pandora happens to have the money to spend on all of these systems? I don't know what kind of household you live in, but most people don't have $600-$700 they can just go and spend on handhelds. I certainly don't.

Not to mention carrying around all of these things together would be a bitch.

Also, that US GP32 search didn't turn up any GP32s, only that the international search had some. (which are the same 4 that showed up on your UK search) Did you even LOOK at the searches before posting the link?

Ah, sorry, I didn't check the GP32 links, I just traded "2X" for "32" on the links.

I think I am just upset at somebody demanding(or appearing to demand) emulators for what are essentially homebrew systems.

If you need to play these systems so badly, just buy the systems, that is all I am saying. If I want to play Gamecube or Xbox games I would buy the actual system, not demand emulators for them.

Cool, me too, do you have the VGA cable for yours? I find that it offers the best quality I have ever seen on a console, and that includes my vga modded xbox! Too bad the console never took off, it had some very nice graphics.

I think that the Dreamcast and Xbox360 are the only consoles to offer native VGA support, the PS2 can be faked into it by using RGB 480p mode, but the games will randomly switch back and forth to interlaced, meaning it is tough to use it for a VGA output.

Where the hell did I demand anything? I repeatedly said "I know my opinion doesn't mean anything unless I do it myself." - "I know what I think doesn't mean squat..." How the hell is that a demand?

Nah, I don't have the VGA cable. I will someday though.

Whilst I see all sorts of issues, technically, with creating workable emulators for the GP32 and GP2x, I certainly don't see anything wrong with wanting to emulate a homebrew console. If anything there's a touch more legitimacy there - after all, most of what you're running won't roms which you're not entitled to, which has to be better than emulating almost anything else, ethically speaking.

Of course, that doesn't get around the technical issues, but I don't see why "just buy it" applies any more to the GP32 and GP2x than it does to a GBA or a Gamegear.

OK, sorry. It appeared as a demanding tone to me. (not necessarily an actual demand)

The reasons were layed out, most all of the homebrew is based on standard libraries, once the library is ported or available the game should work pretty easily.

I don't request GBA or Gamegear emulators either. Personally if I really wanted to play GBA or GameGear games, I would just buy one. I would also recommend people who enjoy playing these games to just purchase the system in question. I realize this may entail carrying a small extra weight penalty, I will remember to bitch about 2-4 lbs of portables when I think of the African children lugging gallons of water for miles just to live.

I do plan on using whatever emulators are available if I feel like it, just for kicks as it were.

GP32 or GP2X? I don't know, I would need a list of games that are must plays. Obviously these are titles on the GP's that are homebrew only available on the console (this isn't as much as you might think, a lot of homebrew is available on SDL for the PC).

I personally don't think that there is that many must plays (to be fair the ones that are would be a real shame to miss, Ruckage gets a shout out here), maybe on the order of a couple dozen games. Porting them would be simple. IF they don't get ported it won't be a huge loss though.

Well, I certainly think that "Blue Angelo" for the GP32 is a must-play, and that was a commercial game. It's something like a mix between Castlevania and Metroid... and the atmosphere just pulls you into the world (in that sense, in reminds me of some of the games by Psygnosis in the early 1990s, but with better gameplay).

I wonder if Virtual Spaghetti would be interested in releasing a downloadable Linux version of the game, and how hard such a thing would be? The company still exists, albeit they now have a very bland-looking corporate website and seem to be making applications more than games (Blue Angelo isn't even mentioned on the new site).

I don't own any other commercial GP32 games (though there were some good ones, I heard), but another must-play from the homebrew side is JBB's Bolcataxian, which is frankly the best shooter I've ever played. It would be far more worthy than most commercial games if only he made it longer (the first five levels only used about 15% of the potential firepower), but unfortunately that never happened. I think it was because while the "preview" won first place at ADIC2004, the sponsors pulled out and never sent the promised prize, which I imagine must've been a letdown...

A PC version of it was released 2 years ago... I haven't tried it yet.

Anyway, since people are saying that working emulation of the GP32 is unlikely, those are the top two games that I'd like to see ported by the creators (and I'd really like to see Bolcataxian finished...).

woogal's Lacuna on GP32 is one of my favorite games ever, and I dearly hope it is ported... with analogue controls, it may be even better.

I loved Lacuna! This is why I need to find another GP32 (preferably an FLU).

Damn! You speak as if the Pandora is linked (the successor) with the F200/Gp32.
You've just insulted Pandora...I don't like you now...

It can be addicting, but it's not one of my own favourites (among woogal's games, I actually liked Bob the Amazing Lemon more).

But yes, there are probably a lot of good GP32 homebrew games that would be even better with analogue controls. :) Just off-hand, I can think of Gloop, Circus Linux, and Bolcatoid.

For Lacuna, at least, Woogal has mentioned that he's planning to port it provided the controls feel right. There is, I believe, a GP2x port that he did, but it's unreleased, because apparrently it just didn't play well on a GP2x. It's a shame, but given the 2x controls, I can understand this.

It's interesting. Everyone these days loathes the GP2x joystick for having too many directions. Yet back in the GP32 days, getting a diagonal after a couple of months was a nightmare. I suppose that's one of the things a d-pad will solve. You'll always know what direction you're pressing, and so will it!
