Lets put this puppy to bed.
There are 3 possibilities for this PMP GP4.
1. **Probability 95%** It's meringue-ware (slightly more solid than vapor-ware

). A Chinese company wants to make a portable media player, but the market is rather full of them and they don't want to invest in actual development unless they have a distribution agreement with somebody. They trawl for distributors on a site like alibaba (which is basically an online flea market for Asian manufacturers) hoping to drum up some interest. The player is no more than an idea and they're too lazy to even photoshop up a fake. Since you have to show SOMETHING, they use an image of the GP2X, to show what their player might look like. If by some miracle somebody actually does contact them about placing an order for 20,000 units, they can say "no problem, we'll have them for you in 4-6 months". You may notice that the description mentions nothing about games, linux OS, homebrew apps, or anything besides movies and MP3s. Any Chinese electronics manufacturer worth their salt can whip up a cheap media player with the specs they listed with off the shelf parts in a couple months, plus a couple more for production.
2. **Probability 4%** This company is either OEMing the GP2X from Gamepark holdings or licencing the design. More probably they'd LIKE to, and are posting the ad on alibaba to see it it's worth pursuing.
3. **Probability <1%** This completely unknown Chinese company is going to reverse-engineer the GP2X. Maybe their super-secret super-spies have already stolen a pre-production copy. Maybe their mad scientists have already taken it to bits and are discovering it's innermost secrets as you read this. Maybe the theft of the GP2X handheld gaming console is only their first step to total world domination. Maybe I'm going to give birth to a purple, ukulele-playing aardvark and I'll name him "Banjo".
In any of these instances, it really doesn't affect us or GPH, so everybody can stop all the worrying and threatening.
On second thought, I guess the last one would affect me. My apartment doesn't allow pets, even if they can play the uke.
